Chapter 7

We landed at the entrance to the forbidden forest, slipping off Highwing as the sun was beginning to dip in the sky. We didn't have much time left until nightfall, and if we were late our choices would be to sneak back in, or stay out all night.

I didn't really favour the latter. The trees loomed over us, the cold now sinking in more. Ominis seemed hesitant. "We're technically not allowed in the forest.." "Oh come on Ominis, how bad can it be?" Sebastian flashed a smile back at me, the previous mood having finally shifted to a lighter one. 

"Come on you two, the sooner we go in the sooner we can get out." I started walking, but the boys weren't following. Instead looked toward each other, almost goading the other to come in. "Guys, If you don't come now I will literally go In alone." I huffed. 

That did it, the two scrambled to my side quickly. "Absolutely not."Ominis stated. "You can't get rid of us that easily." Sebastian teased. But I could tell they were nervous. "Come on then." In we went, the sky growing darker as we walked. 

Valerian plants usually grew around water, but not directly. It seemed to enjoy the moisture but not so much the water itself. I cast Lumos, treading ahead. I could hear the Centaurs in the distance, and see spiders crawling on the forest floor. I shivered. I HATED spiders, with a capitol H. 

Having to fight off multiple Acromantulas was one of my worst memories, and I hoped that we didn't run into any more. Seeming to sense my discomfort, Ominis came to my side. "What's the matter?" I gulped, not wanting him to worry. Before I could answer, Sebastian interjected. "Don't you dare tell us not to worry again, I can and will use torture methods if needed." 

I looked at him confused. "I know rictasempra after all." he stated proudly. I giggled in relief. "Nooo not the tickling charm! I'm stupidly ticklish! I'll talk I'll talk!" I shook my head, raising my hands in defeat and kept walking. 

"I'm not a big fan of spiders, and one of the previous time's I was here I had to fight off an Acromantula. Gave me goosebumps." "you WHAT?" both of them had spoken in unison, I had to fight off a giggle. "I did say I'd faced a lot last year." I shrugged. I stopped. I could hear something.

"Get behind me now!" My sudden change in tone must have spooked the boys, they were at my side within seconds, wands at the ready. I could hear it, a loud thudding coming this way. The footsteps boomed louder, the three of us back to back. 

Trees crashing down around us, the Troll finally emerged. Sebastian paled. "What is it with Trolls wanting to attack us??" the Troll swung Its club, smacking us all to the ground. I was quick to get back up, the others seemingly having the wind knocked out of them.

I cast a few spells at Its head. "Oi! Ugly! I'm the one you want!" I started running, trying and succeeding to distract it. I looked back, casting a few more spells to wear it down. More flashes came from Its back, the other two having recovered.

 It turned, starting to charge toward the boys. Sebastian had leapt out of the way, while Ominis was running in the wrong direction! "Ominis!" I shrieked, feeling a fury I hadn't felt in a long time. I let out a scream, using ancient magic to shove the troll away.

 Ominis fell to the ground, shaking. I was quick to his side, pulling him up. "Are you alright?" He nodded, shaken but still ready to fight. The troll had recovered, and Sebastian hadn't let up on shooting hexes and spells left right and centre. 

I was thankful he wasn't using any dark magic. Working together, we wore the troll down, to the point I was finally able to cast Immobulus, causing the troll to freeze. Trolls didn't just attack on their own, I'd learned that much. I looked around wildly. 

Sebastian seemed confused but joined me in my search. "You took down my troll you little bastards." a voice called from the trees. Out stepped a man in a colourful suit. A lone Ashwinder. "You're a long way from- ey, don't I know you?"
