As I stepped inside, I closed the door behind me quietly and studied the room. Inside was a clutter of different old furniture, but there was an old couch in the middle of the room. It sat facing a large covered picture frame.

Confusion and curiosity eating away at me, I gripped the sheet covering the frame and tore it away. I gasped, tears springing to my eyes as I sunk into the couch. "Hello my dear, it's good to see you again."

It was Professor Fig...or a portrait of him at least. "H-Hello Professor...it's good to see you too." I wiped my eyes, noting his concerned expression as tears dripped down my cheeks. "How is this possible?"

"Well, you see, I was having my portrait done the year you started, but it wasn't fully finished until right before we went down to the final repository. Professor Weasley explained the events, and how you saved the school. I am so proud of you my dear." "Oh..."

Was the only thing that escaped my lips, as my shaking hands covered my mouth. I couldn't stop crying, the tears seemingly unable to stop spilling from my eyes. I choked on a sob, sitting on the couch that seemed to have been placed for me.

Too many mixed emotions were swirling within me, but the main one that my heart seemed to settle on was a strange version of grief. This was not my Professor Fig, but it was the closest thing to him. "I know this must be a lot for you, please take your time." Professor Fig's portrait said gently.

After a few moments, I collected myself, wiping my eyes once again. "I'm sorry Professor, it's just...you have no idea what I've gone through since you...passed." His eyes, even in painting form, seemed to retain that glimmer of excitement that he had when he was alive.

He was curious and keen for me to share my adventures. "Please tell me everything." "What do you want to know?" I offered sheepishly. He beamed at me. "Everything."

I recounted all the events that had taken place after his death, every fight, every obstacle, even just the little things. I felt as though I was reconnecting with a grandfather figure, which I supposed in a way I was.

I really did tell him everything. I spoke until my throat was sore, my voice strained from too much use. But my heart felt light like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

"And now I don't really know what to do...I know Ominis' parents are up to something, but I cannot seem to put my finger on what. And that makes me nervous." I finally finished, slumping back onto the couch.

Professor Fig looked thoughtful, eyeing me silently for a few moments. "Well, if Ominis' parents are anything like they were in school, I'd say your instincts are spot on." "What do you mean?" I asked cautiously.

He paused thoughtfully, crossing his arms. "When Ominis' parents were in school, both in Slytherin of course, they were very tenacious. They always strived for perfection, but often seemed to compete with each other.

I suppose it's similar to yourself and Imelda when completing her flying courses, but they would take it to the extremes. They were both very quiet and well-mannered in my classes, but they were always looking to improve in every way to one-up each other. If they think that their son isn't striving to their level of perfection..."

"They're going to step in and change things so he'll have to..." I finished for him, a cold shiver going down the back of my neck. Ominis had explained how he had left his family home, and how he never wanted to return.

But if they were like how Professor Fig was describing, adding in the knowledge that they loved to use dark magic...this made them very dangerous people. And they knew I wasn't a pureblood.

So they were going to try and change...me? Get me out of the way? Maybe... "In any case, I think you are right to be worried. But don't feel the need to face this alone. You have many around you who will stand by you. If you don't think Ominis is safe, then I know letting the Professors know will help."

"I'm not so sure of that professor. The second trial was meant to be something entirely different according to Professor Weasley, and it got changed. If Professor Black was swayed by them, it means that I have to be very selective in who I trust with this information."

Professor Fig was thoughtful again, seeming to pace around in his frame in silence. "Let me think on it some more, I'll get Anne to send you an Owl for me when I come up with an answer. However, It was wonderful to see you my dear, but you should head into the great hall for some food. We shall speak again soon."

I nodded, going to the door but looking back with a smile. It was good to have Professor Fig back.
