"So...you're alright with either of us being your date to the ball?" Ominis asked, kissing my forehead as I lay in his arms. I nodded. "I was more so hurt that neither of you had asked." "Perhaps it should be me, I am the better dancer after all, and Emmy will need to dance in front of a crowd for the start of the event." Sebastian offered, causing the nerves in my tummy to somersault.
"I don't know...I can't dance at the best of times, and now I need to dance in front of a crowd?" "Perhaps he's right darling, Sebastian is the best dancer out of the three of us, much as it pains me to admit it." I crossed my arms, sulking. This wasn't fair, I wanted to go with them both...
"I can tell you're sulking. Darling, just promise me a couple of dances and I will be happy." Ominis grinned at me, happy I was stuck on my decision. Sebastian nodded, standing and offering me a hand. "We should practice." "But we don't have any music?" He chuckled, lifting me to my feet.
"It's just to get some of the steps. Follow my lead." Sebastian guided me in a waltz, to which I tried to follow the flow of his movements, but just kept wobbling. "Sebastian I can't..." The undercroft door opening caused my attention to shift in surprise, Anne walking in.
"I thought I'd find you all here. Sebastian, are you trying to teach her to dance before you've even told her what you're doing?" Anne said snarkily, to which Seb rolled his eyes. "So what if I am? She's a champion, she needs to know how." Anne shook her head, making a beeline for us and pushing him out of the way.
"I always was the better dancer. Here, hands like this." Anne wrapped her arm around my waist, pulling me closer, my arm now on her shoulder and my fingers intertwined with hers. "Hey..." Seb started, being met with a glare. "Since you and Ominis are similar in height, you two should practice with each other. Besides, you want her to get this right the FIRST time don't you?"
She flicked her wand to an old gramophone and some classical music began to play as she counted my steps. I could feel heat rising to my cheeks as Anne confidently guided me through the steps, not seeming to care how close we were. It was embarrassing that I was so bad at dancing, but she was doing her best to guide me.
Sebastian had begrudgingly started dancing with Ominis, who laughed when he was twirled in a silly manner. Anne couldn't stop the small smile as she watched them play around, however, her eyes darted away as she looked at me. I looked to her in confusion.
"Should we do better than them?" she asked me quietly. I grinned mischievously, nodding. "Trust me." she said, lifting me into the air while twirling me. I gasped in surprise, as I was lifted before she dipped me low to the ground. I clung to her with uncertainty.
Where did she get the strength to do that? Perhaps she had rid herself of her curse after all? "Oi." Seb warned, giving a half glare to Anne who just laughed. "You jealous?" Anne snickered, before lifting me back to my feet.
"What caused you to come and find us?" Ominis asked. Anne shrugged. "I haven't gotten a dress for the ball yet, I was hoping Emmy would come and help me pick tomorrow?" I nodded at her, smiling. Now that I was actually going, I had a few ideas for a dress.
"Wait, who's going with who?" Ominis then asked, causing Anne to ponder the question thoughtfully. "Why don't you come with me Ominis? That way you don't have to worry about asking anyone else, and I know the three of you are dating so I wouldn't pull any moves." She teased, causing Seb to roll his eyes. They were all like siblings and she knew it. Ominis beamed at her. "It's settled."
