TTT-Chapter 6

I left the room of requirement as quietly as I could, noting the lateness. It was easy to lose track of time in the vivariums, as time seemed to move much slower there. I could stay in them for hours if I wasn't careful, especially with my nifflers. 

I sighed, sending a quick owl to Sebastian, asking if he and Ominis wanted to meet me in the astronomy tower. As I headed upstairs, I passed a few lone students completing some astronomy homework. I kept my head down, not really wanting to be recognised.

I hadn't looked in the mirror before I left the room of requirement. I hoped my hair wasn't too wild and ugly now... "There you are. I wondered when you were going to reach out, I haven't seen you all day!" Sebastian jested, coming to sit beside me as we looked out into the world. 

I smiled, humming in acknowledgment as I leaned on his shoulder. "Where's Ominis?" "He's studying in the undercroft, he didn't want to be disturbed." I laughed heartily. Same old Ominis, I'd have to catch up with him later. "Emmy.. your hair?" Sebastian questioned, eyeing my now just above shoulder-length hair.

I tucked a strand of it behind my ear uneasily, heat rising to my face. I had to cut it for the tournaments, I needed to remember that. "I know...it looks awful...but the last thing I would need in the tournament was for it to get grabbed or snagged by something, so it needed to come off..." 

Sebastian leaned closer, running his fingers carefully through it. He seemed mesmerized by it, and how different I must have looked. Truth be told, I was too nervous to look at it. His silence was starting to get to me. "What is it? If you have something to say then spit it out!" 

"Nothing it..it just looks really beautiful on you.." He said in awe. I could feel my face heating up more. I had always worn my hair long, so having it this short was definitely something new. "It is easier to maintain now..." I offered half-heartedly. 

Sebastian smiled softly, kissing my forehead. "I never realised it's kind of wavey...have you shown Ominis yet?" "No, I think he'd hate it because it's not long enough for him to play with anymore..." I trailed off. 

Sebastian chuckled. "I think he'll love it. Come on, let's go show him." He took my hand, leading me to find Ominis. "S-sebastian wait...I'm not sure I want Ominis to know that I cut my hair just for the tournament..." I said nervously. Sebastian stopped, confusion washed over his features.

 "I don't understand, you will always look adorable to us...or me mainly, but you get the idea." "yes but...Ominis must already feel horrible that I'm even IN this tournament, and my hair was something precious to me, and I hate the idea of Ominis blaming himself for my changing it...look I know it doesn't make sense!"

 I huffed, frustrated. I crossed my arms, slumping to sit on the stairs. Sebastian sat on the step above me, pulling me into his arms from behind. "I know it's frustrating, but I don't think you should hide things from him...we tried that in the past, and look how well that turned out." 

I blew a stray piece of hair from my face. "That's different and you know it..." "Even still Honey...he's going to find out sooner or later. Besides-" Sebastian trailed off, kissing the back of my neck, earning a cry of surprise from me. 

My face went red, as I turned to look at him. "I think your new hair looks adorable. Gives much easier access to your neck." He smirked, enjoying my shyness. I grumbled, leaning back into him and sighing, unable to hide my smile. 

"I know you wanted to be in this tournament Seb...I don't really understand how you're not upset with me..." He chuckled. "Maybe before we met, I would have been. But firstly, there was no guarantee I'd even be picked, and second, I can still cheer you on from the sidelines proudly. Besides, Anne told me off for even putting my name in, similarly to Ominis."
