I awoke a few hours later in a cold sweat, my heart pounding in my ears and my breathing quick. I sat up, trying desperately to breathe deeply, my hand instinctively clutching my wand to my chest.

Something had woken me, but I couldn't recollect what. Another nightmare? This hadn't happened in a long time, I tried my best to slow my breathing. What had woken me? Something didn't feel right.

I shuffled from under my bed sheets, my bare feet trying not to make noise as they touched the wooden floorboards. I made my way over to my window, looking back out into the forest. There it was again. Red sparks.

They illuminated the night sky, now exceedingly apparent. Someone was using magic here, and it wasn't me. I pulled on some boots and a cardigan, holding my wand in my teeth to free my hands as I carefully climbed down the pipe to the garden below.

As I landed, I stumbled slightly, before making my way into the trees. I knew this forest better than anyone, however It looked different now. It was too late, the moonlight doing little to provide light as I carefully navigated my way through the tree roots.

The trees were coated in thick fog, the air heavy with the chill due to the lack of sunlight. I shivered, wrapping my cardigan tighter around myself. I held my wand at the ready, just in case something or someone decided to pop out.

I tried to reason with myself. This was madness, there was no one out here except me! But something in my gut told me that I was right, and that there was a looming threat. A part of me wanted to go back and wake Sebastian and Ominis so that if there was a threat, I wouldn't be facing it alone.

The other part of me wanted to keep them from harm. Ominis was already so vulnerable when it came to fights, and Sebastian...while I knew they would both have my back, I still wanted to handle this by myself. I jumped as a fox raced past me, running to try and find prey as it normally would.

I mentally scolded myself for my irrational behaviour. I should've brought the boys, they would at least have kept me company. The fog grew even thicker as I made my way deeper into the trees, I was beginning to find it difficult to navigate. "Lumos" I cast, trying to use the light to find my way. Perhaps whoever had cast the sparks had simply gotten lost here as well?

I felt a chill begin to crawl up the back of my spine as I heard what could only be described as digging and crackling from below. "Nox" I quickly stepped into the shadows, considering whether or not I should cast a disillusionment charm. Too late.

I watched in horror as two gargantuan Acromantula burst from the ground, both almost triple my size. I could feel my skin crawling as I observed them, their red eyes glowing as they scanned the area. I could only guess what they were looking for...food.

They began scuttling about, as I sat frozen in place. I was petrified, I truly truly hated spiders, and these were some of the biggest I had ever seen. I took a deep breath, wishing I had some chomping cabbages to at least back me up.

But I had stupidly run into the forest on my own. Great. I waited, observing their behaviour for a little bit. They weren't acting like regular Acromantulas should. It was almost as though they were looking for something.

I frowned, trying to listen more carefully. Off in the distance...was that music? The sound of what could've been a music box was being carried through the air, the haunting tune combined with the heavy mist and the dreaded...spiders. This didn't feel right.

Still, I was trying to muster up the courage to get away, despising the feeling of crawling going up and down my arms when I knew there was nothing there. I had faced Acromantulas before, this was nothing new.

I just needed to take these ones down before they spotted me. I bit down on my lip hard, forcing myself to move. I cast a disillusionment charm, moving to a different spot. I climbed one of the trees, praying that I'd be safer from up here.

The music was louder from here, I could hear what sounded like a child singing a song I didn't recognise. Their voice was eerie and echoing, and to my dismay the Acromantulas seemed to respond to it. I readied my wand, preparing to cast incendio.

"Found you" I heard the voice whisper in my ear. I screamed, losing my grip and falling to the ground with a heavy thud. I cursed, scrambling to get to my feet, watching in gut wrenching fright as both Acromantulas spotted me, scurrying toward me with alarming speed.

I cast as many spells as I could think of, incendio being the most effective as it burned the abnormally long hairs of the spiders. I could see their pincers near their mouths drooling, as though they had found their target.

I stumbled back further, casting more spells but missing my targets due to a combination of panic and adrenaline. I had to get away. "Bombarda!" I cried, shooting it at the ground and sprinting in the opposite direction, the spiders giving chase until I heard them being called back.

"Run little rabbit, run!" I heard a different voice call, dripping in malice and ill intent. Someone was here alright, and it was exceedingly clear, they were after me.
