🦋Chapter 2: The Speakeasy🦋

It is going to be a miracle to not attract attention and ruin the past. As we kept walking, making our way towards the crime scene, Deke pulled something out of his bag. What does he have for us?

"I printed these out before we left." Deke informed us.

He then handed us badges that looked like the cheap toys you would find at the 99 cent store that would break after a day of buying it. I raised an eyebrow. Really Deke? They'll never believe us with these...badges, if you can even call these that.

"You've got to be kidding me." I mentioned.

"Is this a joke?" Mack asked in disbelief.

"I didn't know what our cover was." Deke argued.

"A child could've done better." Daisy retorted.

"You get these out of a cereal box?" Coulson quipped, earning a snicker from Rosalia, Marisol, and me.

"I wanted to keep our options open." Deke informed us, growing annoyed.

We then walked across the street towards the crime scene, which took place inside a store. Outside, a crowd grew, but several officers were there, holding them back. We gently pushed through the crowd. However, before we could reach the door, an officer stopped us. He was a young man around my age or so. He was wearing an old fashioned blue uniform with gold buttons below his shoulders on both sides, making their way down towards the black belt around his waist. He carried a baton with him as well.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold up." He said.

"Royal Canadian Mounted Police. We were asked to assist." Coulson explained as he lifted his badge.

The officer let out a laugh. "Mounties? Why'd they call you in?"

"Tell me, uh, did you find some bodies without faces?" Mack asked, lowering his voices ot he crowd wouldn't hear.

The officer looked over at Coulson before he reluctantly gave us a nod. I immediately spoke up. "This sort of thing happens all the time in Canada."

Daisy nodded. "Yeah, don't worry. We can handle it, so--"

However, the officer cut Daisy off as he looked at Daisy, Marisol, Rosalia, and me. "What's four gals like you doing trying to be Mounties? Can't you find husbands?"

Oh, so it's going to be like that, huh? I forgot just how sexist men of the past could be. Coulson wore an amused look, lowering his head to try and fight the smile on his face, knowing what was about to go down. Meanwhile, Mack shook his head, afraid of what we would do. Fortunately, Daisy had it offered. She wore a fake smile as she let out a false laugh.

"Okay. Yeah, I mean, I wish that I could hold on to a husband. But for some reason, they just end up with broken ribs whenever they give me lip." Daisy mentioned, wiping the smile off of the officer's face.

"Yeah, for some reason the same happens to me and my cousins." I added before taking a step towards him. "Or somehow they end up mysteriously gone. Why are you asking? Did you want to be the next lucky guy?"

I then flashed him a grin. I watched as the man took a step back, looking frightened. The man then violently shook his head as he quickly blurted out. "No, no ma'm."

"That's what I thought." I confirmed with a satified smile.

"Now move, or gals like us will knock out a guy like you in front of people like them." Daisy warned.

The officer immediately cleared his throat as he looked at us. "Sorry, ma'ams."

He then extended a hand out towards us, motioning us to enter. Good riddance. I let out a sigh of relief. That should put him in his place. As soon as we entered the shop, which looked abandoned with the windows boarded up and sheets thrown over furniture, we saw three bodies in the corner of the room with their clothes stripped, leaving their interior clothing behind that consisted of boxers and white tank tops. I grimaced. Yikes...This is awful. Lucky let out a whine, moving to stand behind my legs.
