🦋Chapter 22: Parting Ways🦋

"Of course." Jemma confirmed, giving him a smile as she understood.

"You enjoying the new digs?" Daisy asked, changing the subject.

"Oh, yeah, yeah. It's nice. You know, it's, uh...Yeah, but after all those years in hallways, uh, I'm...I'm just not used to having a view." Mack revealed.

I nodded. "I know what you mean."

"Are you still stationed there, too?" May asked, looking over at Elena.

"I'm on assignment, actually...chasing an 0-8-4, of all things." Elena mentioned.

That earned a chuckle out of all of us. We can't seem to escape those 0-8-4s. They constantly followed us around.

"Yeah, she's our most decorated agent." Mack announced, giving her a proud look.

"Okay, okay. I've got a good team." Elena replied, waving off his compliment.

"We work well together." Marisol added.

"Although Piper, I think, is questioning her choice." Elena revealed.

"What, taking on the assignment?" Fitz inquired, taken back.

"No, the choice she made when you and Simmons asked her what she wanted for a reward." Elena corrected.

We all let out laughs. Ah, of course. Piper and Davis can't last five minutes without being at each others' throats. It's truly a miracle we lasted an entire year out in space without either one ended up killing one another.

"And you, Melinda? How are you liking your new profession?" Jemma questioned, turning to face May.

"I hate it." May retorted.

We all let another round of laughs upon hearing her words. Of course May would say that. I understood though, teaching kids was tough and exhausting. I learned this through raising Alexis. I'm glad she wasn't little, but she was still young and it was so tiring at times. However, I wouldn't change a thing. I was glad to have a sister and I was happy I wasn't by myself in that house anymore.

"No, you don't." Coulson said, shaking his head.

"I fought aliens, demons, and androids, and this is the first time in my life I've ever felt this exhausted." May confessed.

"Amen to that." Fitz agreed.

"What do you know about being exhausted? You're retired." Daisy retorted, giving him a teasing smile.

"Only someone without kids would say that." Fitz mentioned, cracking a smile.

I had visited Jemma and Fitz as often as I could, taking Lucky and Alexis with me to hang out with Alya. They quickly got along and now every time I come over, Alya was excited to see Lucky and Alexis.

"Yeah. She's a lot." Jemma said with a chuckle.

"She's the best." Coulson mentioned.

I nodded. "She's so adorable. Whenever I come to visit, she's trailing behind Alexis and Lucky, following them wherever they go."

That earned a couple of awes from Coulson, Daisy, Elena, Mack, Marisol, and May. Alya was so sweet and adorable. I was happy for Fitz and Jemma, glad that despite all we've been through they were able to remain together. It was true love all right.

"She's learning to swim right now." Jemma informed us.

"Aww!" Daisy exclaimed with a smile.

"Send videos, please." Elena advised.
