🦋Chapter 48: Fighting Ultron🦋

We prepared to rest for the night, but I was far from tired, especially with what I knew about my condition. I wasn't sure when my final breath would be. I sat down by the fire near trees with branches that where covered in blue flowers that glowed. Sofia then approached me, sitting down beside me. A smile appeared on her face as she looked over at me.

"It's good to see you again." Sofia commented.

I furrowed my brows, baffled to hear her words. "What happened in your universe?"

Sofia let out a heavy sigh, looking devastated. She hesitated before answering. "I...you and my dad, Stephen, you both died, saving Andrew and me. There was a man corrupted with power, a sorcerer, one dad used to train with. He was collecting power of others, whether they were Inhumans, like you and me, people with enhanced abilites such as Uncle Steve or Aunt Wanda, or sorcerers and sorceresses, which seemed to be his favorite. Andrew and I..."

Tears pricked her bluish greenish eyes as she inhaled deeply. "There was a prophecy that said Andrew and I, we are the most powerful of our kind, and we are meant to protect our world and universe. The sorcerer heard of this and went after us. We were separated and just as he was about absorb our power, you and dad arrived. You fought against him, but he was too powerful. Andrew and I knew what we had to do. We were to sacrifice ourselves, to either let you take our power or to take him down with us."

"But dad and you refused, not letting us make that call. Instead, you and dad took the fall, saving our world." Sofia continued. "You both died so we would live another day. Uncle Wong took us in along with our younger brothers and sisters. Andrew and I wanted to be just like you, following your footsteps. Andrew became the Sorcer Supreme and Master of the New York Sanctum. And I became the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. The pain we felt was too immense though it never went away."

My heart ached upon hearing her words and to see her in such agony. And my thoughts wandered towards my predicament. Could I truly surrender and give into this curse that is slowly killing me? I looked back at Sofia, who looked so devastated. Could I do that? Leave them orphans like Stephen and me from her universe did? My heart clenched at the thoughts. I pushed those thoughts aside, not wanting to deal with that right now. Instead, I looked back at Sofia. I had been in her situation. I knew what she was feeling and thinking. With that in mind, I wrapped an arm around her.

"There was nothing you could've done. It wasn't your fault. They chose to take the fall, for you and your brother. No parent wants to see their child go before them. It's too tragic. They wanted you to keep living." I mentioned. "And I know it's hard, but you have to keep living for them. My parents died when I was young too. They died when I was seven...in the same year. I wasn't the same, but with time and the help of my siblings and the rest of my family, I kept going, living the life that they would be proud of."

Luna cracked a smile. "Thanks mom. You always know what to say."

"Well, I try. So you're Inhuman, like me?" I questioned in disbelief, earning a nod from Sofia. "And Andrew...?"

"He's a sorcerer like Stephen, more powerful and stronger than him." Sofia informed me.

I stared at them in utter shock and awe. Wow, that was impressive. No doubt their parents would be proud of them.

"Your parents would be proud of you. I know I am. If my daughter grows up to be exactly like you, then I would be more than happy." I informed her.

Her smile widened as she leaned forth, giving me a side hug, wrapping her arms tightly around me, not letting go for a while. So, I returned her hug, not releasing her until she was ready. We remained like this for a while until Sofia spoke up.
