🦋Chapter 41: Things Aren't What They Seem🦋

A/N: Mentions of childbirth. And now without further ado, here's Chapter 41!

Geraldine quickly yet as gently as she could escorted us out of the room. I lied on the ground, feeling immense pain. Wanda lied down beside me, and Geraldine quickly brought us pillows for us.

"Vision ran to get the doctor. He's be back soon!" Wanda groaned.

"No, no, there's not enough time for that. Relax." Geraldine assured us.

"Stephen...my husband, he's next door." I said in between breaths.

"There's no time." Geraldine said as she ran off to the kitchen. "You know your breathing, right?"

I tuned Geraldine out as I felt the pain grow. I need Stephen...I reached out, using my powers to contact Stephen. I can't do this without him.

"Stephen, my love, I need you...I'm in the Maximoff household."

In a heartbeat, the door opened, revealing Stephen. He looked around, worried. Stephen scanned the area, no doubt, searching for me. His eyes lit up when he saw me. Stephen quickly rushed over towards me.

"Hey, I'm here." Stephen announced.

"The baby...it's coming." I croaked out.

I let out another groan as the pain grew. Stephen's eyes widened, staring at me, completely bewildered. At that moment, Geraldine approached us. "I may be late to the party, but I imagine there is a logical explanation for this."

"It's all perfectly natural!" Wanda exclaimed, letting out a scream.

"Oh, yes, it is all natural...One hundred percent natural." I added on before letting out a yell.

Geraldine then noticed Stephen, doing a double take as she looked taken back to see him. After the intial shock wore off, she blurted out. "How did you know she's in labor?"

Stephen wore a nervous look as he answered. "I have a knack for knowing when my wife's in trouble."

I let out a scream as the pain increased. Immediately, Geraldine and Stephen quickly turned their attention towards us. They hastily knelt down beside us. Stephen grabbed my hand, earning my attention at once. I raised my head to look at Stephen as my breathing grew heavy.

"Hey, you're doing great." Stephen assured me.

"You're both doing great." Geraldine chimed in.

I let out a groan as I shut my eyes as the pain grew immensely. It surged through my stomach and my body. It is too much for me to deal with. I do not know if I can go through with this. It is all too much.

"Mariana. Look at me." Stephen urged.

I dared to open my eyes to see a gentle look on his face. He then added on. "You are doing great."

"Remember your breathing." Geraldine reminded us.

Stephen and Geraldine then began breathing in the rhythm Stephen taught me. Wanda and I followed their lead. However, I grew terrified as the pain grew. I shook my head as I looked up at Stephen.

"I can't do this. I can't." I said, letting out a whimper.

"Yes, you can." Stephen assured me, giving my hand a squeeze. "You are capable of more than you think and realize. You are a strong woman. You can do this."
