🦋Chapter 24: Time Travel Test🦋

Steve, Natasha, and I exchanged a look. We all had the same thought in mind. We hastily opened the gate, allowing Scott inside. As soon as entered the room, Scott began to pace around the room, muttering to himself. Was he all right?

"Scott." Steve called out. "Are you okay?"

Upon hearing Steve's words, he stopped pacing the room as he turned to face Steve, giving him a nod. "Yeah."

Scott then placed his hands over his face, taking a breath before dropping his hands, looking as thought he had reset. His eyes lit up as he seemed to see me for the first time. "Oh, hey, you're Synapse. Huge fan."

I cracked a smile. "Pleasure to meet you, Scott."

A smile grew on his face. "You know my name?"

"Uh, yeah, you said your name at the front gate." I reminded him.

Scott's face fell as he seemed to remember. He then let out a nervous chuckle as he tried to play it off. "Oh right, yeah, I knew that."

"Scott." Natasha's voice rang out. "You said you wanted to talk to us?"

Scott nodded vigorously. "Oh right. Have either of you guys ever studied quantum physics?"

Steve remained silent as he turned to face Natasha and me. Natasha gave a shrug. "Only to make conversation."

"I took a class in college." I mentioned.

Scott pointed to me with a smile. "All right. So...Five years ago, right before...Thanos, I was in a place called the quantum realm. The quantum realm is like its own microscopic universe. To get in there, you have to be incredibly small."

My eyes widened. He was in the Quantum Realm? Just like Juliana and Fitz.

"Hope, she's my...She...she was my..." Scott trailed off, looking heartbroken. After a few moments, he continued on. "She was supposed to pull me out. And then Thanos happened, and...I got stuck in there."

Natasha gave him a sympathetic look. "Sorry. That must've been a long years."

"Yeah, but that's just it. It wasn't. For me it was five hours." Scott corrected. "See, the rules of the quantum realm aren't like they are up here. Everything is unpredictable."

I had an idea of where he was going with this, but I was hesitant. We messed with time once before and it created so many consequences. We nearly doomed our future because of it. We then watched as Scott's eyes wandered towards the peanut butter and jelly sandwich Natasha had made and left on her plate on the table. Scott's eyes lit up at once.

"Is that anybody's sandwich? I'm starving." Scott announced.

Without waiting for a response, Scott rushed over, taking a huge bite from the sandwich. Well, he definitely was not joking about being hungry.

"Scott. What are you talking about?" Steve inquired, completely baffled.

"So...What I'm saying is...Time works differently in the quantum realm." Scott explained, his words muffed from the sandwich he was eating. "The only problem is right now, we don't have a way to navigate it. But what if we did? I can't stop thinking about it."

"What if we could somehow control the chaos, and we could navigate it?" Scott continued as he paced the room again. "What if there was a way that we can enter the quantum realm at a certain point in time but then exit the quantum realm at another point in time? Like...Like before Thanos."

"Wait, are you talking about a time machine?" Steve asked, completely taken back.

"No. No, of course not. No, not a time machine. It's more like a..." Scott mentioned before trailing off, giving us a nod. "Yeah, a time machine. I know it's crazy. It's crazy. But I can't stop thinking about it. There's gotta be...Some wa..."
