🦋Chapter 32: Tony's Funeral🦋
"Alexis, this is Gabriel Reyes, but like I told you, we call him Gabe." I said, introducing them to each other. "Gabe, this is Alejandra Inés Reyes, but I call her Alexis. She's our sister."
Gabe stared at Alexis, completely stupified. I thought I broke him as he remained completely silent. However, after a few moments, he finally blurted out. "How?"
"It's a long story, but it was during one of my missions when the team and I went back in time." I began.
Both Robbie and Gabe stared at me in utter shock. I cannot blame them though. I get how it sounds. I was baffled myself too when Jemma dropped the team and me the bomb once we were already in the year 1931. However, now I had gotten over the stupor, especially as I traveled back in time twice now.
"You went back in time?" Robbie questioned, looking like his mind was still trying to wrap his head around this.
"Yep." I confirmed.
"That's awesome!" Gabe exclaimed with a grin on his face. "You have to tell us all about it."
"And I will." I assured him. "All in good time. But first, why don't we tell you what we've been up these past five years. Alexis here is now fourteen, and she goes to Garfield High School."
Robbie and Gabe were both touched upon hearing my words, wearing smiles. That high school was the one all four of us attended. So it had sentimental value to the three of us.
"And once I graduate, I'll attend Coulson Academy, and then I will become a S.H.I.E.L.D agent." Alexis announced.
I immediately intervened. "Okay, slow it down. I admire your ambition, but we will discuss this later."
Alexis grumbled as she crossed her arms, but nevertheless she agreed, giving me a nod. Fortunately, Robbie stopped in, changing the subject.
"What about you? What have you been up, too, goober?" Robbie inquired.
I cracked a smile at the nickname. It had felt so long ago since he used that nickname. It was as if things had gone back to normal. I just hope Robbie can stay this time.
"Well, I'm so glad you asked, Big B. 'Cause guess what? You're looking at an Avenger, who also happens to be a scientist, inventor, and engineer for Stark Industries." I informed them.
Both Gabe and Robbie stared at me in awe. Robbie clasped a hand on my shoulder with a proud smile on his face, while Gabe wore an excited grin.
"That's amazing, Mari!" Gabe exclaimed. "I'm so happy for you."
"Me too. I'm so proud of you, we both are." Robbie mentioned.
My heart warmed at their words as a smile grew on my face. I was happy to hear them say that and glad that they were here, so I could share my achievements with them. I've come so far, but I couldn't have done without them. They meant everything to me. Lucky then let out a bark as he rushed into the room, Gabe's eyes lit up when he saw Lucky, but he was also surprised to see how big Lucky had grown.
At that moment, my phone vibrated. I quickly took it out to see it was Matthew. My heart dropped. Oh no...I had forgotten to call Matthew back after we finished the mission, bringing everyone back. I had been so busy, fighting Thanos and his army, and then I was with Stephen...Damn, I definitely wasn't going to win girlfriend of the year for that. As Lucky greeted Gabe with a lick to his cheek, I stepped out of the kitchen and into the living room to answer the call.
"Matt, hey." I greeted.
Matthew let out a sigh of relief. "Oh thank God! Mariana, sweetheart, are you okay?"
