🦋Chapter 14: There's A Killer Among Us🦋
~Time Loop #92~
My eyes fluttered open, finding myself once again in the medical pod. I let out a loud groan, leaning my head back against the pillow. I do not know how much more of this I can take...By the time I reached the control room, Deke had stormed in with his tablet. Daisy had blurted out. "Time storm."
"I don't want to alarm anyone, but..." Deke began, but trailed off as he took in Daisy's words. He furrowed his brows, shocked. "Yep, time storm. Yeah, that's right."
"Approaching the vortex, circling the drain. How far away are we?" I questioned.
"79 kilometers. Thanks for asking." Deke answered, staring at me, completely stupefied.
Oh no...My heart dropped. This isn't good at all. We have less time. And that's when it all made sense. Each loop that's reset brings us closer to the vortex, which means we need to find a solution to this and quickly. Daisy and I exchanged a look, having the same thought in mind as we took off, leaving the team more confused than before. We rushed into the room, where Coulson was, waking him up.
"He's saying 79, but it was 94." Daisy informed him, getting him up to speed.
"Used to be a lot more than that. Mariana, you were the one that figured every loop resets us, but it also brings the Zephyr a little closer to the vortex and destruction." Coulson mentioned.
"We're gonna run out of loops." Daisy said.
"See above are: 'Let's do this fast.'" Coulson advised.
I let out a shaky sigh. Daisy inhaled deeply before speaking up. "Okay, so, if the problem is that we never solve the riddle before time runs out, that means we have two options, we could increase the time we have—"
Coulson cut Daisy off at once. "We tried that during loops 23 through 42-ish. Dead end."
"Or we solve faster." I suggested.
"Yes." Coulson confirmed with a nod. "Got any thoughts on how to do that?"
Daisy glanced over at me, looking for help. There was only one way we can fix this. We have to bring the entire team on board with this. Alone we can't do this, we won't have enough time.
"We have to bring the team on board. It's the only way we can figure this out, especially if we have Jemma's help." I advised.
All of the sudden, the ship shook, letting us know the loop was ending and another was about to begin. I mentally groaned. Oh come on.
~Time Loop #95~
Once again, I woke up in the same pod. Daisy and I tried talking to the team twice, but the time we reached and spoke to Jemma, the time loop would always resetI let out a sigh before climbing out of the pod. All right, let's do this. As soon as I reached the control room, Daisy trailed in behind me.
"I've got damage to nearly all systems." Mack announced once again.
"Trying to get a read on our location." May mentioned.
"Guys...stop! Listen to Mariana and me. We are repeating time." Daisy interjected. "Sparks, Yo-Yo, Simmons."
"And Deke." I added.
Marisol, Mack, May, and Rosalia looked confused upon hearing our words. But everything played out the way we had said it. The sparks flew from the fuse box not far from us. Then Elena appeared on the screen beside us.
"Looks like something just fried the Quinjet's flight system." Elena informed us once again.
Mack looked rather spooked as he glanced over at the screen. "Okay. You nearby?"
