🦋Chapter 7: A Trout In The Milk 🦋

~New York, 1973~

Coulson, May, and I were walking down the streets of New York, now wearing seventies clothing. May wore a white dress with red designs of flowers, long brown boots, and a gold necklace, meanwhile Coulson wore a pair of black pants, a navy blue shirt, brown jacket, a pair of sunglasses, and brown shoes. I wore a red long sleeved shirt with Levi as a jacket, a navy blue skirt with a belt, a hat, and a pair of long white boots.

There were several vintage cars of this time period, driving past us. There was non stop honking from the cars on the streets, driving by. Pigeons flew around near food stands, while vendors sold their supply of hot dogs and so forth. It's like we were on the That '70s Show. I can't believe we were here. It seems like we were going through every decade, which was awesome. I just wish we could've seen the roaring twenties.

"Now, this is the New York City I remember. The honking, the smell of hot dog water. And these are the clothes the grown-ups wore when we were kids, am I right?" Coulson asked, looking over at May with an excited grin.

However, May didn't say a word, so Coulson continued on as he took off his sunglasses. "Still not gonna give me anything, huh? Even copping attitude would be a warm relief."

"Hard to care about where we stand when the only emotions I have are the ones other people pass to me." May commented.

All of a sudden, a man in a suit knocked into May, dropping his paper cup of coffee before spinning around, raising his hands in the air. The man gave May a glare, which she immediately reciprocated.

"Oh! Like this guy here, who's feeling ticked off and impatient!" May snapped.

She was about to storm over towards the man, when I quickly intervened, standing in front of May to stop her. The last thing we need is to pick a fight with some guy just because May couldn't control her new powers yet.

"Oh okay, let's not do anything you will regret." I advised.

I had wonder if I could help May with her abilities with my own powers, able to tune down or completely block powers like I did with Shockley. But perhaps I'll try later. Besides, May seemed to back down, giving me a nod. With that, we continued walking on the sidewalk to meet up with Daisy, who was with Daniel.

"Well, that's good that you're learning to label and communicate them. That's good. Very healthy." Coulson pointed out.

"Now that feeling's extended to you." May retorted, giving Coulson a glare, earning a snicker from me.

"Oh, don't think I've forgotten about early." Coulson warned as he glanced over at me.

My heart nearly stopped. Please tell me he's not talking about what the Chronicom said. May looked curious as she looked back and forth between us.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." I said, quickly deflecting.

Coulson gave me a look, letting me know he wasn't buying it. The last thing I need is for the team to stop the mission, because of me. With that, I let out a sigh.

"Can we talk about it later? I'm fine." I assured him.

"Oh we will." Coulson replied, giving me a stern look.

Oh great. We then reached the clothing store, Ziff's, where Daisy stood outside, wearing blue bell-bottoms that had a belt along with beige heels, long hoop earrings, a white shirt, and a brown coat with plaid design.

"Hey, looking sharp." Coulson greeted her.

"Thanks." Daisy replied, giving us a smile.

"Where's Agent Sousa?" I asked.
