🦋Chapter 3: Trip For Biscuits🦋
At that moment, Jemma's voice rang out from our radios. "Mack, Mariana, do you copy? It's not Roosevelt! The Chronicoms are after someone else, named Freddy."
Mack, Coulson, and I stared in utter shock. My heart dropped. They were going after Freddy, the guy Koenig took in? But why? What did Freddy have to do with any of this? He wasn't part of the S.S.R. or S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Freddy?" Deke repeated, looking baffled.
We immediately took off, making our way down the hallways, hearing a scream. We quickly followed the sound, seeing four officers surround Freddy, while a woman lied on the floor. No doubt these officers are actually Chronicoms.
"Hey!" Daisy exclaimed.
The Chronicoms whipped around. As soon as they did, Daisy extended a hand, quaking them back into the kitchen. As soon as we walked in, we saw the cooks stare in utter shock.
"Go! Get out of here!" I advised.
I didn't have to tell them twice, they quickly ran out the backdoor. The Chronicoms quickly climbed back up on their feet, turning to face us.
"Quake. Synapse. I've been looking forward to this." One of them mentioned.
"Huh. Well, sorry...this is just another fight for me, for us." Daisy retorted.
With that, Daisy took on two of them, while I took in the other two. It wasn't long until Coulson joined us, helping us with the fight. The two Chronicoms surrounded me. I swung my arms, blocking the attacks of both of them. However, they were getting quicker as if they were analyzing and adapting to my moves.
All right, looks like it's time for mind tricks. With that in mind, I entered their minds, prepared to shut them off for once and for all. However, as soon as I entered their minds, I saw nothing. It was completely blank. I stared at them in utter shock. What the hell? Then it hit me, this wasn't the first time it happened to me. While in space with that hunter, Malachi, I entered his mind, but I saw nothing. Of course, it made sense as I couldn't read Aida's mind or any of the L.M.D.s. I mentally groaned. Well, this is just great...The two Chronicoms quickly had me cornered. One grabbed me by the throat, while the other was prepared to deliver a deadly blow. However, Coulson intervened, grabbing the one that was about to punch me and dragging the Chronicom towards him.
I then dealt with the other Chronicom who had his grip around my throat. Screw it. I'm using my powers. I placed my hands around his arm that remained on my throat, creating blue energy beams. He let out a yell as the blast flung him back against the wall. As soon as he was on the ground, I spun around to see Coulson and Daisy dealing with the last Chronicom. Coulson threw a bat at Daisy, which she caught with ease.
"1930s baseball reference." Daisy announced.
She then swung the bat, hitting the Chronicom in the stomach, knocking him back towards the doors. The three of us then fled, running with the wounded woman that was lying on the ground when we first arrived, until we returned to Koenig's speakeasy. I kept pounding on the door until Daisy and I broke the door down with our abilities. Coulson then barged in, carrying the woman in his arms.
"Geez! Hey, no, no! No! I warned you once about bleeding on the floor!" Koenig exclaimed, not looking happy at all.
"She needs help. Our doctor friend's gonna meet us here." Coulson explained.
"Wait, wait, where's Freddy?" Koenig asked, looking baffled.
"Wait, they're not back yet?" Daisy inquired as she closed the door behind us.
