By the time, we all made it to the beach, there were people everywhere. Some were off in the ocean, splashing and laughing on large blow-up floaties, others off chanting around a beer keg or the beer pong table, and the rest off by the large black speakers dancing with the crowd.
It was a nice vibe in the air—the wind was light and wispy while the hot sun beat down on all of us.
For once, it reminded me of summer and all the parties Cher and I used to go to.
All the fun we had without the worry of school at the back of our minds.
"Oh, we're definitely about to get lit," Davis declared, smiling as he looked around the beach, "What do you guys want to do first?" he asked.
I looked around at the group as they all thought about the decision. Cher was in a lime green two-piece with a knitted white coverup, Davis was in a white muscle tank and blue Ralph Lauren swim trunks, and Karter was in a black Nike sports bra with black and brown Fendi swimming trunks and a black snapback hat on her head.
I ended up wearing a shimmery gold two-piece with a black sheer skirt that tied on the side.
"I say beer pong," Karter declared, which earned quick nods from Davis.
Of course, she'd say that.
Cher shook her head, "I say drinks and the ocean–we could float and chill," she said.
I nodded, "I second that," I said, agreeing with Cher.
Davis shrugged, "I say we split up and meet back up later."
I looked over to Karter who shrugged slightly, clearly unbiased over the idea.
"It doesn't matter to me," I said, which caused Cher to loop our arms.
"Great, we'll be over in the ocean!" Cher declared, pulling me along before I could say anything else.
Soon, Cher and I were off in the ocean with White Claws in our hands as we laid comfortably on the white swan floaty.
The sun was warm and every once and a while I would dip my legs into the cool water to contrast against the hot sun.
Eventually, Cher and I finished our White Claws heading back over to the beach where we could easily see Davis and Karter in their own one-on-one match with a crowd formed around them.
Of course.
There were girls hanging off of both Davis and Karter's arms, chanting them on—and I even began to notice that people from other schools had arrived.
I looked to Cher, who seemed to be eyeing Davis, which forced my head to tilt slightly, "You good?" I asked her.
Cher shook her head slightly, almost as if she were snapping herself out of it. "Yeah-yeah, I'm good–you shouldn't be good though," she said, motioning her head back to the scene, which made my brows furrow.
Upon Karter winning the game, one of the girls decided to kiss her... on the lips.
I watched as Karter pulled away, pressing her hands to the girl's shoulders, but not hard enough for my liking.
My liking? I don't have a liking. I don't even care—she can kiss who she wants.
The girl only smiled slightly, leaning in to whisper something in Karter's ear.
"Oh, if you don't kill that hoe, I will," Cher determined, shaking her head.
I shrugged, "It's fine, Karter's loyal," I said, not exactly wanting to make a scene but for some reason, my stomach was burning with an insatiable fire.
