Upon getting verbal consent, Karter leaned back down, pressing her lips to mine, which easily earned a hum from me.

I moved my lips against hers—basking in how soft they were.

Her hand let go of my neck, sliding down to grip underneath my thighs along with her other hand and picking me up into her arms fully.

I wrapped my legs around her torso and pressed myself further into her, feeling as if I couldn't get close enough to her.

Karter pressed my back against the nearest wall, contrasting her warm body to my front with a cold wall to my back.

I low whimper vibrated in my throat when Karter's hands tangled in my hair, softly tugging at the strands and easily deepening the kiss with her tongue.

It felt like I was about to explode—wanting, no, needing more.

I slid my hands up from her shoulders and wrapped them around her neck, pulling her in even deeper to me which easily earned a low groan from her.

Suddenly the world had faded—along with what would happen after this. I didn't care about any other moment than now.

I just wanted to feel her touch all over my body.

Karter broke the kiss off, trailing warm kisses from my mouth down to my neck, kissing in certain spots until it elicited a moan from me.

Even when my phone began ringing in my coat pocket, neither Karter nor I could bring ourselves to pull away—and instead, she deepened the kisses down my neck, sucking on my most tender spots.

But even as the phone slowly stopped ringing, It suddenly rang again, forcing Karter to pull away from me and earning both irritated sighs from us both.

"You should take that," she said, her voice so attractively low and raspy.

I whined, pulling her body into mine, "I don't want to."

Karter only laughed slightly, slowly letting me down from her hold, "It seems kind of important," she pointed out, tilting her head in almost a challenging look.

Oh.

Suddenly, it clicked to what she was referring to—or who.

But even I knew it wasn't Tate, it couldn't possibly be after I blocked her.

It was too nerve-racking to know she could reach out whenever she wanted and completely disrupt my life.

I rolled my eyes at Karter, "It's not her if that's who you're referring to," I said, pulling my phone out of my coat pocket.

Karter only hummed, crossing her arms over her chest, "What? Me? No, I wasn't referring to anyone," she said, clearly joking as I peered down at my phone.

But almost immediately I felt my face drop and my stomach swirl into one of its anxious fits—suddenly my mood had completely switched, and I felt stone-cold sober.

"What is it?" Karter asked as I felt my hands begin to practically shake.

I shook my head, clearing my throat, "It's... I'm going to take this really fast," I said, hearing the unsteadiness in my voice as I forced a smile.

Karter blinked a few times, clearly about to say something else, but lost the opportunity of even doing so when I walked toward the bathroom that was attached to the bedroom.

Upon entering the bathroom and closing the door, I inhaled a deep breath, dialing the number back and pressing the cold phone to my ear.

Almost immediately the line clicked, and a voice greeted, "My little ladybug! How are you?"
