I stretched out slightly, letting out a content deep breath before snuggling into the recliner even closer.
My brows furrowed slightly, repositioning my head with my eyes remaining shut as I snuggled in even closer.
"Sloan, you physically cannot get any closer," a raspy voice pointed out, which I instantly identified as Karters.
My eyes shot open, realizing this entire time I was pressing myself closer to her and not the recliner.
I looked around, seeing both Davis and Cher deep asleep, and quickly realized that we had fallen asleep during the third movie of Jaws. My eyes glanced down to my phone which was connected to the charger plugged into the electric recliner.
Upon taping the screen, the time read, 4:27 am.
Damn.
That's quite literally the earliest I had ever woken up.
I sighed, locking my phone and laying back down in the recliner.
This time I made sure to keep as much space from Karter as I possibly could, but she quickly slid her arm over my waist, "That doesn't mean move away from me," she murmured, allowing the furry throw blanket to fall over both of us.
I looked up slightly, hesitantly taking in how relaxed Karter's face appeared to be.
Her thick brows were completely rested, her eyes were held peacefully shut with her long lashes fanning across her sharp cheekbones, and her lips completely relaxed. Her breathing was calm and fanned against my face as her hair remained pulled back into her usual ponytail, illuminating all of her features completely.
The way the dim movie screen reflected off of her glowing skin managed to make it hard to pull my eyes away. The urge was entirely odd.
"That doesn't mean stare either," Karter said, her once relaxed lips, pulling into a slight smirk.
When her eyes fluttered open, I felt my stomach practically shoot up past the tall ceilings of Cher's house.
I quickly closed my eyes, smiling slightly, "Me? Staring? I was just trying to sleep."
Karter chuckled softly, "Yeah, okay, babe."
I furrowed my brows, "What, I am," I said innocently, insisting on the lie even if my smile kept growing by the second.
Karter only chuckled again, nuzzling her face down into my shoulder, "It's okay, I'm used to being stared at."
I only let out an annoyed groan, "Not this."
Karter laughed, "I'm sure you'll be staring at me in your dreams, babe," she said, laughing again as I smacked her arm.
"Go to sleep, Karter," I deadpanned.
She only laughed again, "I could tell you the same thing."
—
The second time I woke up, Karter was cuddled into my chest, her arms around me as she held me in a full-on hug.
I looked around the dim theatre that had zero windows, which made it hard to have a concept of time.
However, when I saw that Davis and Cher were gone from their chairs, I pieced together that it had to be somewhat later into the morning.
Much later than four in the morning.
I slowly looked back over to Karter, taking in how peacefully she looked, and hating that I had to wake her up so we could figure out what our plans for the day were.
