"Why do you keep staring at me?" I asked, chewing on the salty McDonald's fries as Karter drove down the empty road.
Karter only smiled to herself, clearly holding back a laugh, "No reason..." she trailed off, which made me narrow my eyes at her. Realizing I wasn't letting the matter go, Karter said, "You're just really fucking funny when you're high."
I felt my face grow warm, "Funny good or funny bad?"
Karter finally let out one of the laughs she had been clearly holding in, "Just funny, babe."
I sighed contently, "Babe," I reiterated, smiling to myself. Who would've thought I would grow to love the nickname?
Karter only laughed again, "What am I going to do with you?"
"A lot of things," I said, which made Karter's brows shoot up at an alarming rate.
"Still not taking advantage of you," she pointed out, clearly noticing the tone I had taken with her.
I frowned slightly, but quickly got past the sadness of Karter's statement, deciding that all I needed was a kiss.
Or possibly a few kisses.
"Can I at least get a kiss—"
"Not until the morning, babe," Karter cut me short as she turned onto her street.
I groaned, turning to face her, "How can I go another night without kissing you?" I said, poking her cheek slightly.
Karter glanced over to me with a small smile, clearly amused by me. "I guess we'll see, yeah?"
I frowned, turning back to face the front with a huff.
Karter only laughed at me again, pulling into her driveway before putting the Jeep into park.
"Can you walk?" Karter asked, looking over at me.
I knew I could, but I also knew Karter would carry me if I couldn't—and I wanted Karter to carry me.
"No, I don't think so," I said, forcing my voice to sound tired.Karter narrowed her eyes at me for a moment, but still unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car to walk over to my side.
I smiled happily when Karter opened my door, extending her arms, which I didn't waste any time sliding into.
"For the record, I know your lying—I just can't not give you your way," Karter said, but I only shrugged, happy that she was carrying me. She hummed, holding me securely in her arms, "But I think you knew that already."
The familiar house was completely silent as Karter carried me bridal style up the stairs, walking toward her room door.
As soon as we made it into her room, she walked over to the bed, gently setting me down.
When she kneeled before me, I raised a brow, "I thought you weren't taking adv—"
"I'm clearly taking off your heels, babe," Karter retorted, sliding my black heels off.
I hummed, "Will you help me take my dress off too?"
Karter rolled her eyes playfully, shaking her head slightly, "You're insufferable, you know that?"
I shrugged as Karter stood on her feet, guiding me to stand before she unzipped the back of my dress.
However, before the material could fall, Karter turned around, "I'm going to go grab you some clothes," she said, walking away before I had a chance to say anything.
As I was taking the black dress off along with the necklace and bracelets, Karter re-emerged into the room, refusing to look at me as she handed me the folded t-shirt and sweatpants.
