You're Doing It, Babe

After going back to my house to shower and get changed in a simple yellow bikini that I threw denim shorts and a graphic t-shirt over, I drove back over to Karter's house and followed her instructions that mentioned a pathway over on the side of the backyard.

Upon following the pathway, I came to a dock by the ocean where a boat—or should I say a literal fucking yacht—was docked at.

Oh, so this is just a casual Sunday for them?

I approached the boat, seeing Karter standing there in a long-sleeve graphic white tee with the sleeves pushed up which easily illuminated the shiny watch on her wrist and the gold bracelet on the other—she wore matching white Nike shorts, while her dark hair was pulled into a ponytail at the back of her head.

Karter peered down at me through her Ray Bans, "Aw, babe, you're back," she said, smirking slightly. "It was the shortest hour of my life, but gosh I missed you."

I rolled my eyes, patting her shoulder as I walked past her, "Yeah, I didn't miss you either."

Karter laughed from behind me as I walked over to the large yacht.

She made sure to climb on first, helping me on soon after before brisking me away on a tour.

The enormous yacht managed to have four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a kitchen, and two lounge areas—which seemed insane to me.

It was a literal house on the water...

I'm actually just trying to wrap my head around that.

Soon, we were at the cockpit of the boat where Nina and Nancy were talking with the captain who I soon realized was an old friend of theirs.

"And Ryan, this is Karter's girlfriend... Sloan," Nina introduced me, smiling over at me as she held her mimosa glass in one hand.

The brunette man's brows raised in surprise as he sat in the cushioned seat, relaxing slightly since the boat was currently on cruise control, "No way? Karty has a girlfriend?" he asked, turning to face us all.

Karter groaned, throwing her head back, "Here we go."

Ryan laughed, his brown eyes gazing over to me as he extended a hand to me, "It's nice to meet you Sloan—I'm Karter's godfather, Ryan."

And almost instantly, it clicked.

The resemblance between him and Karter was clear—not as much as it was between Karter and Nancy, but it was there.

I briefly shook his hand, smiling, "It's nice to meet you as well, Ryan."

The man flashed me a genuine small, as he adjusted his captain's hat, "Did you want to drive the boat?" he asked, like it was the most nonchalant thing ever.

I blinked a few times, was he joking?

He's definitely joking—he has to be.

But when he tilted his head in question, I realized he was being completely serious, "Wait you're serious?" I said.

Nancy laughed, "Oh sweetie, it's a right of passage—we've all done it."

My eyes widened slightly, glancing over to Karter who gave me a nod of approval. "You're in good hands, Slo," she said, nodding over to the captain's seat.

A slow smile formed on my lips as I hesitantly walked over to the chair. I can't believe I'm actually about to drive a boat—scratch that—an entire yacht.

Ryan nodded, standing beside the chair as I sat down, "Don't worry, I won't take it off of cruise control until you're ready."

I slowly nodded, leaning my legs against the side of the tan chair, peering out for a moment at the glistening water.
