The resident Conrad and Gigi post 5x03

Aunt Billie babysits

The next day:

Conrad walks around the ER checking on patients, although his thoughts have been elsewhere, specifically his late wife Nic and daughter Gigi, Today was both of the Hawkins's first day back at Chastain since they lost Nic to a car accident over a month ago; He is taken out of his thoughts when his phone rings, the caller ID says "Marion, Chastain nursery" He picks up, "Marion, everything okay?" He can hear Gigi whimpering in the background. "Dr. Hawkins, I have tried everything and Gigi still isn't calming down. I think you need to come here." Conrad hated hearing his baby girl crying for him. He takes a deep breath, "Tell her dada's coming." He hangs up the phone and starts running towards the nursery, wiping tears from his eyes because he hated the fact that his baby girl was crying for him so much that he could physically feel his heart breaking. As he runs, he can't get what Nic said to him when he found out she was pregnant, out of his head, "You are going to be the best dad." He loved his girl and tried to be strong for Gigi in the event of Nic's death. But he doesn't know how long he can continue.

5 minutes later, He enters the nursery to a crying Gigi. She is inconsolably saying "Dada" over and over. He takes her from Marion and bounces her up and down while swaying and playing "unchained melody" on his phone. He kisses her head and sits down with her on his lap. "I shouldn't have brought her back here so soon. it's too soon for both of us." He puts his chin on Gigi's head in defeat and almost in tears. Marion sits across from him; after a few seconds of silence, Marion says," You thought you both could handle it, Conrad. It's okay not to be able to do something, especially after the loss of a spouse." Conrad looks up and sighs, "Yeah I guess you're right. Hey is it okay if I take Gigi for the rest of the day?" Marion smiles, "Of course, we'll be here when you both are ready." Conrad stood up and re-adjusted so Gigi was on his right hip. He side-hugs Marion and walks back to the ER. He walks away realizing that his feelings for Marion are getting stronger but what does that mean for him and Nic? Is he moving on too soon?

Once back in the ER, in a sort of trance, lost in his thoughts about if he is moving on too soon, Conrad sees Billie and walks over to her, " Hey Billie?" Billie turns around, smiling she says, "Hi, there's my favorite dad and daughter duo. What's up?" Conrad sighs, "Would you be able to babysit tonight?" Billie looks confused as to why Conrad would want her to babysit so soon after Nic's passing considering it means he would be leaving Gigi alone for the second time since the passing of his wife, Gigi's mom, and her best friend. She looks at him and says, "Yeah of course I can babysit." Conrad beams, hands Gigi off to her for a moment and says, "Hold her, I'll be right back."
He runs to the nursery hallway looking for Marion when he stops and spots her talking to Irving and Jessica, he walks up to them; after the three of them say hi to him, he looks at Marion asking, "Marion, can we talk for a second alone, please?" Marion smiles, leads Conrad away from Jessica and Irving and says, "So you wanted to talk, what's up?" He nervously plays with the ring on his pointer finger and says," Would you want to grab dinner and a movie with me tonight?" Marion smiles, nodding her head, "Yeah I'd like that. Pick me up at 8?" Conrad beams his iconic smile, "Yeah, see you then." Conrad walks away feeling conflicted about what he just did. Is he cheating on Nic?

Later that evening around 7:15

Conrad is walking around his bedroom trying to decide what to wear on his date with Marion while Gigi is in a playpen or as Nic and her father Kyle called it, "baby jail"; He is putting his shirt on when he hears the doorbell ring singling that Billie was there. He pulls the rest of his shirt on and turns to Gigi, "Does Dada look handsome or what?" she giggles in response. He smiles, kisses her on the head, "I'll take that as a yes. Now come on, Aunt Billie's here to watch you." he picked up Gigi and headed downstairs to greet Billie.

As he opens the door, Billie is seen with a beaming smile, "Hey Conrad. There's my favorite girl." She grabs Gigi from Conrad and goes into the living room with Conrad following. " Okay so I fed her dinner earlier but If she gets hungry before bedtime, there's a bottle in the fridge, just make sure to heat it in the bottle warmer then test it to make sure it's not too hot." Billie looks at him with admiration; he gets a glimpse of this look and says, "What?" She smiles, " Nothing, just thinking about how even Nic wasn't this crazy before leaving her for the first time." Conrad rolls his eyes and says, "how would you know? She had seperation anxiety the whole time we were packing up to go to Waylon's. I made fun of her for it." Billie chuckles and says, "We'll be fine, right Gigi? Say "Dada, we'll be fine, go out." " She tickles the little girl's stomach causing her to giggle. Conrad smiles and places a hand on gigi's head and kisses her. "Okay, Okay, I'm going. Yout two have fun. I shouldn't be more than an hour, maybe two." Billie looks at him and says, " Conrad? Goo!" With that, Conrad walks out of the door and goes to Marion's to pick her up.
