Breaking the shadows

The start of fifth year:

1996:

WednesdaySeptember 1st

"Do you have everything?" Hermione ask as we stand on platform 9 and ¾, waiting for the train to arrive, and I answer a little annoyed: "Yes I have everything, it's the third time you asked that"
Hermione asked the same question three times, once at home before we left, then again in the car on the way to kings cross, and then now, on the platform. Standing in my own thoughts daydreaming back to Ginny and me in my room just before summer started, I miss her so much, my parents surprised us with a vacation, so I didn't get a chance to see Ginny before we left. Hermione taps me on the shoulder, and I snap out of my thoughts and say a bit irritated: "What?"
Hermione who doesn't care that I snapped at her points and says calmly: "Look"
I look in the direction that Hermione is pointing and Ginny comes running towards me, I start running and I flings my arms around her neck and kiss her, she grabs me tightly around my waist and deepen the kiss, someone beside us ruins the moment my saying: "Urgh that's disgusting" for a moment I forgot where I was and who was around us. I let go of Ginny and see that the one who called us disgusting is no other than Sophie Roper, my arrogant roommate, I haven't been talking with her since our argument after the art gallery, she's been avoiding me, and honestly, I couldn't care less. As the train arrives, I go back to Hermione to get my trunk.

On the train I find Ginny sitting in a compartment with Luna and Neville, I sit down beside Ginny, and she takes my hand. I look into Ginny's gorgeous ocean blue eyes, I could easily get lost in. I feel Luna's eyes on us, so I turn away from Ginny and face Luna and Neville and Luna asks curiously: "So are you guys official?"

Ginny looks at me shortly and then answers Luna's question: "Yeah, I guess we are"
Neville who has been awfully quiet looks up and says: "Harlow is your hair longer?"
"Yeah, I wanted to try to have it long"
Neville nods and says: "It looks good"
"Thanks"
I look down because I hate compliments, I'm not used to them so mostly I think that people are being sarcastic
Ginny squeezes my hand and says: "I did notice it, and Neville is right, it does look good on you"
Now I blush even more now that Ginny is saying it. 
I look up as someone is opening the door, and its Hermione she's already wearing her ropes and she tells us: "We will be arriving soon you better get into your ropes"
I nod, and Ginny and I follow Hermione to an empty compartment. Hermione leaves again and then it's just Ginny and I, Ginny starts undressing herself, while I find my uniform in my trunk. Ginny pulls out her school uniform and says complaining: "Urgh I hate that everything I own is hand-me-downs from my brothers, I don't even have a skirt to my uniform but Fred and George's old trousers."
When I look in my trunk, I see it overflowing with skirts, because I got a few hand-me-downs from Hermione, but my parents also bought me a new set for this school year. I look up at Ginny and says: "I have more than enough, if you want you can have a few"
Ginny says surprised: "Do you mean that, how do you have more than enough?"
"I got some hand-me-downs from Hermione and my parents bought some new ones as well"
Ginny: "But are you sure?"
"I'm sure, I will get new next year anyway"
Ginny: "You are so lucky"
I reach down into my trunk and take out a skirt and hand it to Ginny and says: "Here you go"
Ginny: "I can't believe it I can finally feel like a girl, but are you completely sure that I can, have it?"
"I insist, I have enough, and I know how it feels only having hand-me-downs"
Ginny looks confused and then asks: "You do?"
"Yes, last year all I was wearing was Hermione's old clothes"
Ginny: "So why aren't you now?"
"I'm two inches taller than her now, so her clothes don't fit me anymore"
Ginny: "Wait then how tall are you?"
"5 feet 7 inches"
Ginny; "Then you are taller than me, I'm only 5'6"
"Then I guess I'm taller than you"
Ginny and I get dressed and she wears my skirt.
