Breaking the shadows

Quinn Juniper.

Monday September 20th

As I walk out Dumbledore's office Luna walks past me in the corridor, I turn to her and say: "Luna, I was looking for you."

Luna: "Yes?"

"Do you know Eleanora Flower?"

Luna: "I've seen her around, lonely, is she?"

"Yes, I just talked with Dumbledore, and he suggested a student he called Miss Juniper, she's in Ravenclaw right?"

Luna: "Quinn Juniper, just as alone as Eleanora"

"Do you know where she is now?"

Luna: "Might be in the library, I was going there too."

"Good thanks"

We walk to the library and Luna was right Quinn is sitting in a corner with a book and so is Nora, just in the opposite corner.

I walk over to her, and sit down beside her, she looks up from her book and says: "Hi Harlow."

"Hi Nora, what are you reading?"

Nora: "The mists of Avalon."

"Is it fantasy? I love fantasy."

Nora: "You do?"

"Yes, but I don't think that I've read that one, can you tell me about it?"

Nora: "The Mists of Avalon is about the legends of King Arthur. Told from the female's perspective. For example, Morgaine is the daughter of Igraine and Duke Gorlois of Cornwall. Igraine is a child of Avalon but was married off to Gorlois at a very young age. Though Gorlois loves Igraine in his own way, she pines for Uther Pendragon, the High King of Britain. Her sister Viviane, and Taliesin the Merlin, two powerful figures in the magical land of Avalon, told her she was destined to have Uther's son. This son would grow to be a legendary king who would unite Britain..."

I actually have read it, a few years ago, but listening to Nora talking about something this passionate I would love to hear every time, even if I know what it's about.

Nora continues talking about the book and Luna appears in front of me, she was talking with Quinn just a minute ago, I stop Nora shortly: "I'll be back in just a second, but the book sounds really interesting."

I go to Luna and ask: "So what did you find out?"

Luna: "Quinn is reading a fantasy-book called the mists of Avalon."

"What a coincidence so is Nora, thanks Luna."

Luna: "Glad I could help."

I go back to Nora and say: "Do you see that girl over there?"

Nora: "Yes, what about her?"

"My friend just told me that she too is reading the mists of Avalon."

Nora: "Really, I've never met anyone else at my age reading the same book as me."

"Would you like to talk with her?"

Nora: "What if she doesn't like me?"

"I'm sure she will, you already have something in common."

Nora: "Okay then, I'll talk with her."

"Do you want me to go with you?"

Nora nods and take my hand. We walk over to Quinn and say: "Hi Quinn, my name is Harlow, and this is Nora, I noticed that you were reading the mists of Avalon."

Quinn says still looking down: "Th-that's right."

"Nora here is reading the mists of Avalon too."

Quinn looks up and asks: "Who is your favourite character?"

Nora: "That has to be Morgaine or Viviane"

Quinn's face lights up as she says: "Mine is Viviane, but I like Morgaine too. Would you like to discuss the other characters?"

Nora: "I would love to."

Nora gives me a quick hug and whispers: "Thank you."

And that's my que to leave.

Nora made a friend, with a little help but she made a friend.
