Saturday September 22nd
As the rain is pouring down outside Hermione and I sit all curled up in the corner of our treehouse, it's the first time our parents have taken a weekend away and we are home alone, the neighbours check on us frequently but the past few hours we've been stuck in the treehouse. I'm shivering and Hermione notices, she finds a blanket nearby and puts it over me, she holds me close. We sit like this in silence until we hear a voice: "Hermione, Harlow, are you two up there?" It's our neighbour Mrs. Robertson. Hermione help me up and we walk outside so Mrs. Robertson can see us: "Horrible weather, isn't it? Come on down girls, I'll make you some hot chocolate." She says kindly. We crawl down without speaking. And back at Mr and Mrs Robertsons house. Mrs Robertson makes us hot chocolate as promised. As we warm us at the fireplace Hermione whispers in my ear: "Let's get out of here as quickly as possible." I just nod. It's not because we don't like our neighbours, or we like Mrs. Robertson, but we are a little scared of Mr. Robertson, a few years back there has been rumours that he hit his daughters and one of them killed herself when she got pregnant with his child. It's all just playground rumours, but we believe it.
We drink our hot chocolate and then Hermione says: "It's getting late we should head to bed."
Mrs. Robertson: "We have an extra bed here if you want to stay."
Hermione: "That's okay our parents told us to stay at home, they'll be home early tomorrow."
Mrs. Robertson: "Yes, then I'll follow you over."
Hermione: "Thanks."
Mrs. Robertson follows us over and tuck us in bed.
As she leaves, I jump over in Hermione's bed, and she reads me a bedtime story like she always does.
I fall asleep in Hermione's bed.
The next morning our mother wakes us up and we almost jump up to hug her. She says: "Breakfast is on the table, whenever you are ready."
"We'll be right down" I say yawning.
I hate being alone so being waked up of my mother without having her for a whole night was nice. But Hermione is always right there by my side because that is what sisters do.
