Breaking the shadows

Saturday August 23rd

This morning Hermione sat me down in the Weasley's living room, she told me she had something really important to tell me. She took my hand as she said: "Harlow, I'll not be coming back to Hogwarts with you this September."

"Why? You still have a year left."

Hermione: "I know, but I need to do something important with Harry and Ron this year."

"You are going to help Harry destroying the horcruxes right?"

Hermione: "Yeah I am."

"That's fine, I'll manage without you."

Hermione: "It's not all Harlow."

Hermione is now looking really nervous but also a little scared.

Hermione: "I have to do something to protect you and our parents."

"Okay, what will you do?"

Hermione: "I'll give them new memories, not remembering me at all, only you. You'll be moving to Australia with them, and you keep them safe whenever you are home."

"So, I'll be all alone? And they won't remember you at all?"

Hermione: "That is the plan, and if I return, I will explain everything to them, and it will all make sense for them."

"But what will I do."

Hermione: "Just not talk about me in front of them, can you do that?"

"I think so, and for the record I'm not a child, stop talking to me like I am."

Hermione: "Sorry but promise me that you won't talk about me."

"Okay, but can you keep in touch with me?"

Hermione: "I'll do my best, but I'll only write when it's safe, and I'm the one contacting, we don't want Astra or Hedwig to get hurt."

"No of course not, I won't write to you. But when will this all be done?"

Hermione: "So we go home in a couple of days, I'll help you pack for Hogwarts, and then you'll come back here, I'll stay at home, fixate their memories, and then meet up with Ron and Harry at the Burrow, say goodbye to you just before term starts. And hopefully we will all be back."

"Okay, so whenever I get home from Hogwarts I'll be going to Australia?"

Hermione: "Yes, its safer for our parents if they are not reminded of me in our home."

"Make sense. But how will I know if you have died?"

Hermione: "Don't worry, if you don't hear anything from us in a month you can send Astra to find me, but a month not 29 days, okay?"

"Okay only if its over a month, give it a couple days, and then I'll send Astra, and if she comes home with nothing or the note I wrote, I'll know what has happened."

Hermione: "Yes that is the safest way to do it."

"I'll miss you every day."

Hermione: "I'll miss you too, do you want to have one more adventure together?"

"Always, what will we be doing?"

Hermione:"I'll figure something out. Now find Ginny and be with her okay."

"Okay, I'll be with her."
