1997
Saturday, July 26th,
Hermione and I have been traveling with our parents over the summer but now we have landed back in England just the two of us. As we had plans with the Weasleys to celebrate mine and Ginny's birthday together. There is a month between us, but we don't care, we want to celebrate it together. My birthday was fifteen days ago on the 11th of July and Ginny's is the 11th of August. I couldn't contain my excitement as we arrived at the Burrow and Ginny came running to me saying: "Everyone is here." By everyone she meant that her two older brothers Bill and Charlie had also come home to celebrate her birthday.
Ginny and I exchanged gifts, and I unwrapped a beautifully bound journal from her. The thoughtfulness behind the gift warmed my heart, knowing that she understood my love for writing and self-reflection. I couldn't wait to fill its pages with my thoughts and dreams.
When Harry and Hermione arrived, their faces lit up with smiles, and we all embraced in a tight-knit group. Harry had brought Ginny a box of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes products, igniting laughter and mischief among us. Hermione, ever the thoughtful one, gifted me a set of advanced magical books, knowing my thirst for knowledge and exploration.
The day unfolded in the enchanting garden of the Burrow. Molly, Ginny's mother, had prepared a feast fit for a queen. The air was filled with the aroma of mouth-watering delicacies, tempting our taste buds. We gathered around the table, sharing stories, laughter, and our dreams for the future.
As the sun began its descent, we moved indoors to the living room, transformed into a dance floor. The music from a magically enhanced wireless radio filled the air, and the room shimmered with lights and floating balloons, courtesy of Fred and George's wizardry. Ginny and I twirled on the dance floor, our laughter filling the room, while Harry and Hermione joined in, forming a circle of friendship and celebration.
The night sky unfolded above us, and a magnificent cake appeared, Molly's magical touch evident in its intricate designs. It symbolized our dual celebration, with the numbers "16" and "17" gracefully adorning the top. Together, Ginny and I blew out our candles, surrounded by the heartfelt wishes of our loved ones.
As the room filled with cheers and applause, Ginny turned to me with a soft, affectionate smile. In that moment, our eyes locked, and an unspoken understanding passed between us. The air crackled with an electric current, and it was as if time stood still.
Without hesitation, I leaned in, closing the distance between us. Our lips met in a gentle and loving kiss, a silent celebration of our deep affection for one another. It was a moment filled with tenderness, warmth, and the undeniable connection we shared.
As we pulled away, our cheeks flushed with a mix of joy and contentment, we were met with the heartfelt applause and cheers of our friends and family. They, too, recognized the significance of the moment, the confirmation of our blossoming relationship.
Ginny and I intertwined our fingers, a silent promise to continue supporting and loving each other through the adventures that lay ahead. In that kiss, we sealed a bond that would endure the tests of time, reminding us of the beautiful journey we were embarking on together.
The grand finale awaited us in the Weasley garden. With a wave of a wand, Fred and George set off a display of magical fireworks. Brilliant colours burst in the night sky, painting it with awe-inspiring beauty. We stood together, Ginny and I, alongside Harry and Hermione, marvelling at the spectacle and embracing the magic of the moment.
As midnight approached, Ginny and I hugged tightly, overcome with gratitude for the unforgettable memories we had created. We knew that this joint celebration would forever hold a special place in our hearts, a testament to the unbreakable bond we shared and the magic of our friendship.
As I laid in bed next to Ginny, I thought to myself: "It's been a good day." Ginny and I have celebrated our birthday together even though Ginny's aren't before another sixteen days.
Today we had kissed in front of our family for the first time, as an official couple. But now that we have done that, we can now call us an official lesbian couple. Even though it has been for a year, six months, and nineteen days since Ginny asked me to be her girlfriend officially on a cold January afternoon.
Looking up at the ceiling hearing Ginny's snoring I fall asleep. With my hand intertwined with Ginny's.
