Chapter 117

~No One's Pov:~
Fukuzawa was handcuffed and standing on a building
He stared down below.

A man in sunglasses and someone in a mask with a hood covering his head. was standing behind him.

"You plan to silence me by drowning, is that it?" Fukuzawa asked.

The two men were silent.

Fukuzawa turned around to look at the man in the mask, "I know who you are."

The person in the mask, also Kamui, was looking at him.

It wasn't Kamui at all.

Ranpo took his mask and hood off, revealing Finch on his shoulder.

Ranpo laughed, "Director, your rescue is complete!"

Fukuzawa's shocked expression then softened into a smile, "So it was as expected."

"Ha! Sorry I had to be so rough about it! Though it's better than what the others got!" Ranpo waved his arms in the air.

Fukuzawa gasped a little, "The other employees were targeted too?"

Yeah, well... Kamui's movements are sharp and quick. So for time saving reasons,"

"We hijacked his assassination plan!" Finch exclaimed.

"F-finch?" Fukuzawa looked at him, "What on Earth are you doing here?"

"Long story."

"Anyhow that being the case," Ranpo said, "All of the Detectives are safe!"

"But, Ranpo.. I heard you were shot and went missing when the incident started?" Fukuzawa asked.

He laughed again, "There is one reason for me to have fallen into that punch! Because it was more convenient to make my opponent think I was in one! Back then... At the time of the hostage situation.. Due to the enemy's plot, I was surrounded by police... I blended the confusion in first response and escaped the perimeter."

"I see.." Fukuzawa was now kneeled down having his handcuffs unlocked by the man in sunglasses, "From there, what did you do?"

"Am I not a great detective? And what a great detective does is one thing, solving cases! In course of the investigation, I caught onto the plan to assassinate Agency members. But I didn't have enough time to prepare to rescue them all at once. So I decided to rewrite the enemy's plan. Stealing the gun meant to snipe Kunikida, destroying the electronic lock, scattering gas and safely rescuing Kunikida. For Yosano's rescue, I did some work on the transport vehicle beforehand! I replaced the engine with an electrical one. Electric engines make nearly no noise. But if I left prepared a playback of driving noise, no one would notice the swap! Since the attacker intended to blow up the vehicle with a remote ladmine, I stole that and detonated it ahead of time. The soldiers had to leave the vehicle. Out of the 4 soldiers, 2 went to investigate the centre of the explosion. The other 2 went to look out for attacks, with the vehicle out of their view. Then, using a mirror to avoid standing out, I got in, cut off the driving sound playback, and quietly drove off a side road. This was the trick of Yosano's rescue."

"And as for Finch?" Fukuzawa looked at him on Ranpo's shoulder.

"Finch told me a long story about how he was separated from L/n when she aided the other Agency members during the hostage situation. He was shredded into pieces, but healed completely days later. I found him flying around and crying like a child for L/n. He helped me retrieve the Agency members." Ranpo explained, "Now then, the last I rescued was Katai. This one's the simplest, I used a collaborator."

The man in the sunglasses jumped back, still on his knees.

"A collaborator?" Fukuzawa's eyes widened.

The man stood up and took off his glasses and moved his hands through his hair, "Yes, it is I!" Poe exclaimed.

"The novel Poe wrote was displayed on a screen, and he got sheltered into a safe world." Ranpo explained.

"Furthermore, I played an active part with the sniping, preparing the vehicle-"

"Ah! That's right I'm busy right now, so let's leave that bragging for some other time!" Ranpo cut in, "That's how everyone got into a safe place and is waiting for the Director's instructions. What'll you do?"

"In that case, I'll give my instructions." Fukuzawa said.

"Say anything you like! Just give the words 'solve the case' and I-"

"No." Fukuzawa cut him off, "In this case.. Crush it! Enough is enough!"

Ranpo smirked, "That's what I like to hear!"
