Chapter 23

I was typing on my computer. It was morning. I looked at the time.

7:43

Dazai looked at me. "You seem anxious."

"Huh?" I looked at him beside me. "Oh, I'm not. I just feel so tense after watching a few of The Backrooms videos." I lied.

"Oh. Wait, what's that?"

"The Backrooms? An urban legend that if you ever fall out of reality, you go to an alternate dimension where you go on different levels and try to hide from things called entities."

"Ooo! What are those?"

"Just watch some videos about them."

"Alright!" He grabbed his phone.

Thank goodness.

I looked at the time.

8:54

I realized I got a text on my phone.

Chuuya:
Hey, any chance we can meet up right now? I just figured out I have a job around 4:00.

Y/n:
Oh, sure! It's a cafe right under the Agency.

Chuuya:
Okay, I'll see you there. Let's meet at 9:00.

I made sure no one was looking.

Yosano was in her office, Junichiro was out on a job, Atsushi and Kyouka weren't here yet for some weird reason, Kunikida was reading his Ideals, Kenji was outside on the rooftop watering the plants, Ranpo was also out on a job, and Dazai was on his phone watching those Backroom videos.

I looked at Finch and he flew on my shoulder.

I quietly walked out of the Agency.

As I was walking down the hallway, I snapped twice and Finch disappeared.

"Hey? Why'd you do that?" He asked.

I don't want you to embarrass me..

"Oh! I see~"

I sighed and got in the elevator. I pushed a button. It closed.

I'm so nervous.. what if I embarrass myself?! What if he doesn't show up?! What if he says he hates me or thinks I'm weird?!

I took a deep breath.

It's just a guy..

The elevator opened and I walked out, I opened the door to the cafe.

I blinked in surprise.

I see Chuuya sitting at a booth. He looked like he was looking at his watch.

"Hey!" I waved and smiled.

He saw me and smiled as well, "Hey, Y/n."

Chuuya and I were talking with each other. I was sitting in front of him.

"Now that I think about it, I have an idea." I said.

"Really? What is it?" He asked.

"So, I told Dazai about The Backrooms earlier and it gave me an idea for-"

"Well, if it isn't Chuuya and L/n!" I heard someone exclaim.

Oh shit.

Dazai sat beside me. "L/n! What could you be doing with this snail?" He looked at Chuuya with a smirk.

Chuuya glared at Dazai, "Just because we're out in public doesn't mean I won't-"

"Oh, quiet down." Dazai looked at me. "What could you two be doing over here together?"
