It's been a couple days since Brynn and I went out with Tristian, Jake, Dean and Grayson. Jake just reached out to me asking if I'd like to go out with the group and then some tonight. Intrigued and excited, I of course reply with a "yes".
Since neither of us have anything better to do, Brynn is on her way over to my house with her outfit and makeup tools so we can get ready together.
I'm sitting at my vanity, straightening my wavy long dark brown hair when my bedroom door bursts open. "Jesus Christ!" I grip my chest and Brynn lets out a devious chuckle. I watch her walk further into my room through my mirror.
She's freshly showered; her black shoulder length hair coiled from the water, and the scent of her raspberry soaps wafting through the air. "I'm sleeping over," she informs me as she plops her backpack on the floor next to my vanity before throwing herself onto my bed.
This is why I love her - it's always been a goal of mine to have my house (specifically my room) be a safe space for my friends to come and go as they please - Brynn truly has no shame in acting on the statement "what's mine is yours."
By the time Brynn and I are done getting ready, the plan has changed a handful of times. "Ugh can they just make up their minds already." I groan and toss my phone onto my bed.
"I know." Brynn gets up abruptly and shuffles over to my full body mirror, "Come take a picture with me real quick, we look hot as fuck."
I join Brynn and we get ourselves picture ready.
A light pink top compliments her mixed skin, hidden under a black zip up, with black ripped jeans and her crisp white air forces making a statement.
The shade of purple my crew neck with white lettering is really makes my green eyes pop; and must I say, my black flare leggings contour my ass perfectly. I also elected to wear my white air forces.
We retake our mirror selfi until we're both happy with the results. By that time, roughly 8 minutes have passed. I walk over to my bed and check my phone. To my surprise, the boys finally decided on a plan for tonight's outing.
9:30pm rolls around. Brynn and I are the first ones to arrive at the Burger King - our start point to the night. We sit scrolling on our phone as the minutes pass us by.
Finally, Tristian and Grayson pull up, with Dean and Jake right behind them in Dean's dark grey 2010 Camaro. We all get out and crowd around Tristan's car.
"Who are we waiting for?" Grayson questions.
"Mason and Jaxon." Tristian replies while glancing at his phone.
My eyes widen and I shift my gaze to Brynn. I see all sorts of emotions swirl through her eyes.
"Tristian!" I snap, "of all people why would you invite Jaxon!?"
He directs his attention to Brynn, "What, I thought y'all were cool." He cluelessly shrugs it off.
"I mean I guess," Brynn starts to fidget. "I haven't seen him in over a year and a half and I don't remember the last time we talked."
The guys carry on with their nonsense and I motion for Brynn to come back over to my car.
We lean on the hood of my 2015 black infiniti q60 coupe. "We don't have to talk to him, we can just keep to ourselves tonight." I reassure Brynn.
And we didn't. After Jaxon and Mason showed up the guys went over to Jaxon's white 2003 BMW e46 M3 CSL because he was raving about the sound system he just installed.
Until everyone decided they were ready to go, Brynn and I kept our distance as we floated back and forth between the cars with the group, listening to their conversations but never giving input.
The stretch of highway we decided on tonight was a lot of fun. We focused on cruising more than racing.
About halfway through to our destination, Dean and Mason split off from the group to head home.
The night was going perfect until, "WHAT THE FUCK!"
At the last second, Grayson decided to take an exit while I was three lanes over. Tristian followed suit and Jaxon barley made it.
"Brynn please call Tristian." I frantically demand.
"Take this exit," she points as we see a sign for Target. "Pull into the lot."
"Yo, where'd you guys go." Tristian answers the phone nonchalantly.
"Dude, I was three lanes over when Grayson decided to take that freakin exit."
"Just put the address to wawa in and we'll meet you there."
Brynn had to listen to my rant about how I felt Grayson was egotistical for the whole two mile drive. She agreed with me to some extent. From the way he can't hang on Fridays - like we're just supposed to sit around and wait for him - to the way he tried to take over what Tristian and I planned last time, and now messing up the route we picked on top of making me run a red light earlier in the night because he sucks at leading.
I see them parking as Brynn and I pull into the wawa lot.
"Where'd you guys go?" Grayson attempts to joke.
"Ah I don't know, some guy was being an idiot on the highway and I missed my exit."
Grayson takes my tone lightly and chuckles, "yeah, sorry about that, I thought you'd be able to stick with us."
I roll my eyes as I turn away and start walking towards Wawa's front doors.
Brynn and I head to the bathroom while the guys go order sandwiches and whatever else.
By the time we're done in the bathroom, they're still waiting at the counter so we go back to my car and blast music.
The cruise home was bearable, less impulsive decisions from Grayson which was good.
Now Brynn and I are back at my house getting ready for bed.
"I swear to God, if Grayson pulls some dumb shit like that again next cruise I'm gonna snap."
"I can't believe you're still on about that."
"How can I not be, it was so reckless, Brynn!"
"Girl, don't act like you don't like the adrenaline rush."
She's right.
