Grayson and I are lounging around in his room on our day off. While he plays a couple of rounds of his video game online with Jaxon, I get bored of my phone and my eyes start to wander around his room.
In between rounds, he catches me lost in thought. "What's wrong sweetheart?"
"Nothing." I try to shrug it off.
He gives me a knowing look and mutes his mic, "talk."
I sigh, frustrated that it bothers me, and slightly embarrassed. "She's been in here before."
"Who?" His tone displays concern.
"Your ex." I finally have the courage to meet his eyes. "She's slept in this bed, in these sheets. She's had a designated spot on your desk to put her items. She's admired your trinkets and momentums in the places they remain now."
"She's been in here before..." He trails off, seemingly lost in thought.
The unmute button chimes, "Jaxon I'll call you back later."
"Sounds good." The dial tone beeps.
Grayson stands up and makes his way to me with an outstretched hand, "let's go."
"What? Where?" I scooch to the edge and connect our hands.
"Don't worry about it, just trust." He gives me a smile that suggests he's plotting something.
A short drive later, we arrive at homegoods. "What are we doing here?" I question as he shuts off the Porsche.
"I am giving you a budget to redo my room any way you like. If you don't find what you're looking for here, we'll go to different stores until you do."
My heart smiles and I blush. I didn't ask for reassurance, I couldn't even imagine asking for something so extreme as to rearrange his whole room - yet here we are, him offering without being asked.
He pushes the cart behind me without complaint as I zig-zag through every aisle.
I get him new shelves to display his knicknacks. New storage bins. New sheets. A new comforter set. Throw pillows. New curtains. A new chair. He even assures me that he'll order a new desk - and get this - a new mattress.
Hell, he even let me buy him new stuff for his bathroom. Including new body wash, shampoo, and cologne.
To say I'm ecstatic right now would be an understatement. He makes me feel seen and heard. He never faults me for my insecurities. What more could I ask for?
Rearranging and assembling his new items when we got back to his house was beyond fun.
This whole project brings up similar topics. He gets to telling me about how his family is building a new beach house and selling the old one. Not only that, but he seemed genuinely excited to show me the floor plans once they've been approved. I am relieved to know that I won't have to step through the doors of the house he and his ex made so many memories in - this is just another new beginning for him and for us.
Grayson then proceeds to tell me he's mocked up the floor plan to his own house. He hopes when the timing is right that he'll be able to make that dream a reality. I can't wait to be buy his side as it comes true.
He is so good to me and for me. I want nothing more than to be the person he can rely on in good times and bad. I am looking forward to growing along side of him, and being his personal cheerleader as he continues to grow. He deserves nothing but the best because to me he is the best.
Hearing him gush and watching his face light up as he talks about these topics give me an unexplainable joy. I feel like parts of me I didn't even know existed are fulfilled when I'm with him. I could sit and admire him for the rest of my life, and I hope I do get that opportunity. I want nothing more than for us to get the happy ending we deserve.
