In another sad attempt to distract myself, I reach out to Callum. Luckily he's free today. We decided to meet at the same spot as last time.

This time I pull up to see him already here. Instead of shutting off my car, I invited him inside. He throws his helmet in the back seat and we go for the drive I promised him,

We make small talk catching up on the backroads that lead to the highway.

On the highway we roll the windows down, I put the moonroof up and I proceed to bang through the gears. I cut up a little bit and he's seeming to enjoy it.

We hop off onto the exit that leads us back to the reserve / recreational center. These roads have a lot of long sweeping turns. Having the confidence in my car and knowing these turns, I take the speed limit and nearly double it.

Back at his bike, we get out of my car and sit on the wooden fence overlooking the lake.

I take a picture - the last day of July sun glistening on the nearly blue water - and post it on my main snap chat story with the location tag. I then proceed to turn my phone on do not disturb.

Callum and I talk more, about nothing in particular. It's nice, simple. It's not Grayson though. I internally roll my eyes.

"Before I leave would you like to go for another ride?" I smile and Callum extends his helmet to me in a knowing way. "Let's go." He hops up and holds out his hand for me to take.

The ride relaxed me. It gave me that same sense of freedom it did last time.

Callum has a very calm demeanor, it makes him easy to talk to. So I gather up the courage to tell him that although I don't know where he stands or how he thinks of a relationship, I am not ready for one. Obviously I still have lingering feelings for Grayson, so it wouldn't be fair to use him as a rebound.

He seems to respect me for this. He gives me a knowing smile and confirms that although he finds me attractive, he doesn't want a relationship either. He wishes me luck on my endeavors and tells me to hit him up if I ever change my mind. We end with a hug and part ways not knowing what the future holds but feeling at peace with where we left off.

Once in the solitude of my car, I open my phone for the first time in hours. It catches me by surprise to see that Grayson snapchatted me.

He slid up on my story, "are you out driving alone?"

To which I reply, "no I just met up with a friend."

He pops into the chat as I press send. I quickly receive "oh" and then he exits the chat so we leave it at that.

Why would he even care?

I voice memo Brynn over text as I drive home relaying what just happened.

I open her text at a red light and press play on her voice memo. "Girl, honestly I don't know. He came over last night to smoke and I overheard him and Jaxon talking, apparently he and his girlfriend had a messy breakup." My heart skips a beat. "I don't know who broke up with who though."

I take a deep breath as I downshift and accelerate on the highway headed towards home. The thoughts bouncing around in my head get quieter and quieter as the needle on the speedometer passes 100. 110. 120. 130. 135. 140. 142.

I'm shaking with adrenaline as I let off the gas. I'm so high on adrenaline, it feels so good. That was the fastest I've ever gone and now I'm craving more.

All in due time.
