It's been four days since I've seen Grayson. It annoys me that we don't text inbetween the times we see each other. I shrug that feeling off and return my attention to prepping my hair with heat protectant.
As I section my hair, I'm thinking of reaching out when his contact illuminates my phone screen with an incoming call.
I answer, "what's up?" Then turn it to speakerphone so I can rest it on my vanity as I start to curl my hair.
"Do you work tomorrow?"
"No, why?"
"Would you like to take a roadtrip with me?" I hear shuffling in the background of his line.
"Where to?"
"That Porsche hasn't sold so I want to go look at it, and I want you to come with me."
I smile, my heart smiles, and suddenly I'm all giddy. "Of course I'll come with you, what time do we leave?"
8am rolls around and Grayson arrives promptly on time to pick me up.
He's dressed to impress, I on the other hand am not.
The navy blue slacks he wears with a gray polo are tied together with a brown leather belt and brown leather dress shoes. The Rolex he wears has a gold band, hands, and numbers, with a navy center in which the gears turn. The gold of his chain with his grandparents wedding band peaks over the edge of his shirt collar.
I am wearing gray cargo sweatpants, a green ribbed semi cropped tank that makes my eyes pop, and brown uggs. My second day curled hair is up in a messy bun, but my makeup is done - tinted moisturizer, brows shaped, mascara on curled lashes, highlight, and tinted gloss.
I did however bring a change of clothes for when we get closer to our destination. That outfit consists of a black long sleeved bodysuit with a sweetheart neckline; non-ripped, straight legged, medium washed jeans; and black, closed-toe, pointed, stilettos that are supported by a 2.5 inch heel. My current jewelry consists of my dainty silver chain (which I never take off), skinny medium-sized silver hoops, and a silver tennis bracelet on my left wrist.
Before Grayson pulls out of my driveway, he leans over the center console and gives me a peck on the lips. "Hi." He smiles as he returns to his seat and puts his car in drive.
We stop for gas and snacks before we get on the highway we'll take for a majority of the ride down south.
The drive there was enjoyable, and the three hours went by quickly. I had him stop at Sheetz fifteen minutes from our destination so I could pee and change. Due to us being in an unfamiliar area, he insisted on coming inside with me.
I exited the bathroom wearing my fresh outfit and my hair now let down. When he came into view, I swear I saw him inhale sharply.
"Ready?" I smile while still having to look up at him.
"You are the prettiest girl I have ever laid my eyes on." He deadpans.
I blush, "stop it." I nudge past him, grinning like an idiot.
As we go to exit, he steps out from behind me and opens the door. He's such a gentleman, it's very admirable.
He finds an empty parking spot at the dealership. I meet him at the front of his car, he locks it and then grabs my hand. "Ready?" He gives my hand a light squeeze after intertwining our fingers.
"Are you?" I counter.
We walk in and are instantly greeted and offered water, tea, or coffee. He accepts the water, and I politely decline everything.
The salesman claps his hands together, "what can I do for you two today?"
"I would like to test drive some cars."
"Anything particular in mind?"
"The white 718 Cayman S you have listed on your website."
"Ah! Gorgeous car, right this way." Salesman leads us over to a seating area, he takes down the necessary information from Grayson while the valet pulls the car around front.
The salesman holds the door open for us. Grayson walks out to the car calm and collected, I'm smiling so much my cheeks hurt.
Grayson places his hand on my lower back as he guides me to the passenger side and opens my door for me, offering me his hand as I slide in.
He makes his way into the drivers side, starts the car up, and grins at me as the engine comes to life. He rolls down his window to grab a suggestion from the salesman of what road to take. Grayson thanks the salesman, rolls his window up, puts the car in first gear, and we begin our test drive.
The test drive lasts about 20 minutes if not slightly longer. Grayson gushes about how much he loves the car practically the whole time.
We pull up to where the valet had brought us the car and he parks it.
"So... What are you thinking." I question.
"I'm thinking we're going home in a Porsche." He grabs my thigh and squeezes it.
"No fucking way!" My hands fly up to my face and cover my mouth.
The fact that Grayson works full time at a dealership as a salesman helps make the process flow a lot quicker.
He was able to get $22,500 for his Ford Focus St and used twenty thousand of it as a downpayment on the Porsche.
We grab all of his items from the Focus, bid our goodbyes to it, and make our way to his new car.
He closes the driver side door and reality sets in, "my dad is going to fucking kill me."
We burst out laughing.
Pulling out of the parking lot with his hand over mine on the shift knob was a surreal feeling. "Are you happy?" I ask him.
"Kie, there isn't a word for how I'm feeling right now."
I chuckle at his joy. Seeing him happy makes me so happy, his smile is contagious.
"I can't wait to see what the group will say." I comment.
"This is our little secret for now." He squeezes my hand and I nod in agreement. "No one will ever drive this."
"Oh, but they'll try." We both laugh knowing how persistent the guys can be.
The drive home felt like a dream. It's not though - it's reality - and I can't wait to see what comes of it.
