Although Brynn has been absent for an unknown amount of time now, if she won't come see us - we'll come to her!
For the past week and a half Eva and I have been planning Brynn's birthday party. We've been in cahoots with Jaxon this whole time and everything is falling into place perfectly.
In Florida I asked her in her ideal world who would come to her birthday party, and now it's finally happening!
Eva and I are the designated decorators, Jasper is on alcohol duty, I sent Jake and Tristian to the store with a budget for food and chasers at Eva and I's expense. The other guests have no duties other than showing up on time.
Jaxon took Brynn out for a dinner date so Eva and I could set this up for her to come home too.
His house is looking great, honestly the best it ever has for a party, and as the guests roll in they validate Eva and I with comments as such. It's making us even more excited to see what her reaction will be.
Jasper, Tristan, Darcy (unfortunately), Jake, Jaxon's sister and cousin are here all in good timing. We're waiting on Grayson, Mason and Dean. Jaxon is getting antsy as he's having a hard time stalling with Brynn.
Eva and I cave telling him to not worry about it, Grayson, Mason and Dean will just have to miss the initial surprise.
We hear Jaxon's car pull up, Tristan yells "shut up" and no one contests. It's so silent you could hear a pin drop.
Darcy cues up Birthday Bitch by Trap Beckham to play as Brynn walks through the door. Eva and I get ready with a crown and sash.
We hear their footsteps approaching in the gravel, the door opens and we all go crazy.
Once things settle down and Brynn has taken it all in, she makes her rounds for hugs (which is a huge honor because she hates physical affection).
As we're all starting to deck eachother out with glow sticks, the door opens and Grayson walks in. seeing him takes my breath away. I knew he was coming, but from knowing we're going to be in the same room again to actually being in the same room again completely sends my body into overload. I don't know what I feel for him anymore.
I crack open my second twisted tea of the night to avoid saying hello to him. The door opens again and in walks Mason and Dean.
I'm tipsy off of tweas and it's only 10pm. Then the birthday girl calls people to the fire pit area for a smoke sesh.
Eva and I are tripping over nothing, holding onto each other and nearly pissing ourselves from laughter.
In the smoke circle Grayson stands diagonally across from me. Normally I'm really good at making eye contact with him, but I can't bring myself to do it tonight. I stay in my own little bubble with Eva and Brynn.
As the joint gets to me, I close my eyes as I inhale and dance to the music in my head. When I open my eyes to exhale, they immediately find his eyes on me. When I catch him, he averts his eyes quickly. I take another hit and pass the joint.
Later in the night half the party goers are inside. Eva, Brynn, Grayson, Jaxon, Jake, and Mason are still outside with me. Eva and I are sitting in a chair, Brynn is standing next to Jaxon looking at his phone, Jake is in his own world. I'm zoned out but start to laugh to myself unprompted.
Mason asks why I'm so giggly, but before I get the chance to respond, Grayson informs him that "she's always giggly."
I bring my attention to Grayson, only to find he's already looking at me. I continue to stare at him, neither of us breaking eye contact.
I still find him attractive, but I just don't know what I feel. It's terrifying.
Sitting here staring at him is becoming too intense, the world around me is starting to fade. It's getting to feeling like it's just us two in the world again and I can't handle it. I announce that I have to piss and practically drag Eva with me not caring about how unsubtle my exit was.
Brynn looks at me as we pass her and mouths "are you okay." To which I nod my head and give her a sloppy cross faded smile.
The rest of the part goes by with less interactions with Grayson, and for once I'm grateful. I do on occasion catch him staring or feel his eyes on me, but I just ignore it and hope for the best.
