Chapter Fifty-Two

A couple of days ago I saw a post on instagram going around advertising a "Toys for Tots" car meet. To gain entry you have to present an unopened toy to be donated for charity. I think it's a great way to end the 2023 car meet season.

With that being said, I sent the post to the Gapplebees group chat. Surprisingly all eight drivers as well as three passengers are able to go. We plan to meet at Walmart, grab toys, and then cruise the hour and 15 minutes there.

The only reason we're willing to drive so far is because of the amount of publicity this post has gotten. It's supposedly going to be a good show with not only the cars but food vendors and a DJ too.

The cruise there was peaceful but I'm sure the traffic didn't have just me pissed off. People really need to learn how to drive.

Pulling up with my group was surreal. I'm beyond glad to have worked our issues out so we can be a functioning group again.

To say the designated show area was packed would be an understatement. The show area had now expanded into the parking lot and cars were still rolling in. The eight of us couldn't park next to each other, but we were able to snag spots in close proximity.

Grayson startles me as he opens my driver's side door, he laughs and offers me his hand.

He shuts my door, never letting my opposite hand go, and I lock my car. We make our way to the welcome gate to reconvene with the group.

Ultimately, it's decided that we'll go our separate ways. Beau comes with Brynn, Jaxon, Grayson and I to get food. Jasper, Mason and Dean go to look at the merchandise booths. Darcy, Tristan, and Jake go to look at the cars.

From the food section of vendors, we split up even more as everyone has their own preferences. We pick a table that Brynn and I are left to occupy while the boys go grab our food.

Sitting around, Brynn and I shiver. When the boys return, the food warms us, but it's only temporary. Walking through looking at the cars, making our way to the vendor section, Brynn and I continue to try and play off our frigid state. It fails miserably.

Jaxon and Grayson give us their sweatshirts, and they leave us and Beau to run back to their cars and grab their spare hoodies. How lucky are we to have such gentlemen.

We end up finding Darcy, Tristan, and Jake at the vendors while waiting for Jaxon and Grayson to make their way back to us.

Not even five minutes in Darcy's presence and I am already annoyed.

"Tristian, I'm cold."

"Tristian, my legs are tired."

"Tristian, I have to pee."

"Tristian, are you done looking at this booth yet."

Wine, cry, complain. Her pouty voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Shut up!! I wish I could smack her.

Brynn chuckles under her breath and it brings my attention to her. Thankfully, I might add, I was unknowingly glaring at the back of Darcy's head.

I hear quick and heavy footsteps approaching, before I can process it and turn around, Graysons scent surrounds me as he picks me up and swings me back and forth. I squeal in pure happiness.

He places me back on the ground but his arms remain bear hugging me around my shoulders from behind. My hands rest overtop of him as he sways us back and forth.

We decide to break away from the big group so we can go at our own pace when looking at the cars. Walking hand and hand with him feels so natural. Holding his hand isn't ever uncomfortable, our hands fit perfectly together (and that's not an over exaggeration).

90% of the builds here are respectable, the other 10% are complete ricers. Some people's taste is very questionable, but I respect the energy they devote into making their build.

There was a BMW M4 and a Subaru STI with functioning colorful Christmas lights strung up on them. I am in awe. How do people come up with these ideas?

We see Brynn and Jaxon browsing the cars slightly ahead of us and make our way to join them.

Jaxon lets Grayson know there is a vendor advertising his carbon fiber products. Grayson and I make our way over so he can get pricing on parts for the near future.

All in all the day was a huge success and everyone seemed to have a good time. We all broke off from the group at our own pace so there was no cruise home. Grayson and I ended the day by going to grab something to eat.

Despite my offer to pay, he covered the bill like he always does. It took some convincing but he let me pay the tip and that's now our new deal.

How did I get so lucky to end up with someone as wonderful as him.
