When they got home, Hope and Sereph rested. Then, after much back and forth, they decided to talk to Jaden – at least about what Hope was. They called the incubus to a safe room.

"Was the visit successful?" Jaden asked, though he didn't know why. Then Hope and Sereph enlightened him.

Jaden had to sit down first. He had expected something, but not that. "What are you going to do now?" he asked when he had caught himself again.

"We will go into the human world and look for my origin and possible relatives," Hope said.

"And how do you plan to do that? Sereph can't just go on holiday in the human world. He's a prince of hell," Jaden said, clearing his throat.

"Jaden is right. If I move away from my area for too long, or if others know it's unguarded, it can incite others to attack," Sereph said. The situation was difficult.

"You don't have to. They just have to think you're here. In the weeks I was with you, you were always here in the estate except for a few visits. Make a few visits and keep in touch with Jaden. Come back immediately if something comes up. We only ever go into the human world for a few hours and sleep here." Both looked at Hope.

Sereph thought about the proposal. If they only went into the human world for a few hours at a time, no one should notice.

"Jaden, can you have my back for the hours we'll be away again and again?" he asked his best friend.

He sighed. "You're really beating me up. In return, I expect a hefty salary increase and a full month of vacation," Jaden said, rubbing the bridge of his nose with his index finger and thumb.

Sereph laughed and slapped Jaden on the shoulder. Then they discussed how best to stage the camouflage. In the days that followed, Sereph did the two weeks worth of work in just four days and Jaden organized the rest. Hope did more research about the Deva but found absolutely nothing.

Finally, the day of departure had come. Both put on the clothes typical of the human world and Sereph put on a camouflage bracelet specially created for him, which concealed his appearance. High-ranking demons would still notice that it was Sereph, but hopefully they didn't hang out in the human world of Hope's hometown.

Both folded their hands and traveled through the portal into the human world. The next thing Hope heard was the loud traffic noise and the honking of impatient motorists.

"I'm back," he whispered.

Together they took a taxi and drove to the office that had handled Hope's adoption. They entered the building, which was inconspicuous from the outside, and heard the busy typing of keyboards and clicks of mice. There were small rooms with open and closed doors, all equipped with a small desk, computer, and many filing cabinets. The walls were white with small pictures. The floor was a gray linoleum that had seen better days.

Together they went to the small reception, where an elderly man with light hair, in his mid-fifties and reading glasses on his nose, was busily typing onto his keyboard. He wore an old-fashioned checkered shirt, sweaty at the armpits, and beige corduroy trousers.

"Good afternoon," Hope greeted him kindly.

After about two minutes, he looked up and pulled his glasses off his nose. "How can I help you?" he asked in a friendly, if slightly stressed, tone.

"I'm here because I want to see my files. I was adopted and want to know more about my biological parents."

"Good, and who is your companion?" the man asked.

"My fiancé," Hope replied with a smile. "He has to accompany me because I'm blind and can't read the files," Hope said.

The man looked at them confused for a moment. He coughed and began to type. "Well, I need your ID and for you to fill out this form," the man said, holding it out to Hope.
