My feet get sporadically wet as I sink into the soft sand under my soles. I listen to the rhythmic whoosh of the ocean flowing back and forth. I can feel myself gradually drifting into slumber as my body eases into a calm. Then, I step on a clunky pebble and OW! My foot twitches hard under the sheets from a pain that wasn't real. Stupid imaginary pebbles are the worst.
