The lamp never understood why his owner kept him on the nightstand. The light switch was within reaching distance of the bed. It was easy for the owner to just reach over and flick it on and off. So why have a lamp? It made the lamp sad until one day when the owner went to flip the light switch and the bulb burnt out, covering the room in darkness. He tried to turn on the lamp, but the lamp wouldn't cooperate. The lamp had been shunned for too long and was not interested in giving the man his light.
