Ellie's parents were surprised when she brought a purple dog home from the shelter. First they thought it was paint, but no amount of soap could wash the purple away. Then they thought the dog was sick, but the vet gave the animal a perfect bill of health. Eventually, they gave up worrying about the dog and just let Ellie be happy. Then one day, strange things began happening. The dog began growing tentacles and wings. It would bark in weird languages and taught Ellie advanced physics. So they weren't surprised when the purple dog flew away in a spaceship.
