It's hard to trace the end of the world to an exact date. There was no bomb or spreading of disease. It was a slow, gradual decline. But most historians traced it back to the day smiling became illegal. Nobody could be seen showing any joy on the streets. Civilians were rounded up for reportedly laughing, never to be seen again. Of course, people still smiled in private. Jokes were told in whispers and celebrations occurred behind closed doors. But in public, it was all blank expressions and stern glances. It was priming the world for a revolution of happiness.
