Chris always ignored no smoking signs. Why? Because he just didn't give a damn. Hospitals. Restaurants. Nursery schools. Who were they to deny him his nicotine fix? Wasn't this America? A land of freedom and rights? And that meant the right to poison his lungs wherever and whenever the hell he wanted.
So of course he didn't pay any mind to the frantic construction workers trying to get him to put the lighter down. 'Screw them,' he thought, and sparked up. Too bad the gas leak ensured he would be smoking quite literally right until the moment he stopped screaming.
