At some point in your muse less swinging, you'd become corporeal again, the purple melting from the world around you. Bucky's words echoed in your head.
"If she wants to be left alone, she won't tell us she's back."
Did you want to be left alone?
Two days ago, you'd wanted the exact opposite, literally screaming in their faces to try to get a reaction to no avail.
Now though? Now you weren't sure. They were hurt. They were angry. You didn't want to face their ire.
A soft meow pulled your attention from the treetops above, to the white cat perched at the bottom of the tree. Alpine had followed you out here and stood sentry like the good little guard cat she was. What piqued your interest though was the large black cat sitting next to her. It titled its head and looked at you with unnaturally green eyes.
You smiled. "I didn't know you could take the form of animals as well, Mischief."
The black cat purred, rubbing its body along Alpine's before coming to do a figure eight between your dangling feet.
"How pissed off would you be if I picked you up right now?"
He gave a short mewl and sat back on his hunches. Green magic overtook his form, growing until Loki was revealed standing before you. He moved around behind you and grabbed the swing, setting you back in motion.
"You know, most mortals would cower in the presence of a demon." He spoke, still giving you gentle pushes.
You laughed. "Listen, I'm not sure what you and Livi get up to in the bedroom, but I've heard at least one story and let me tell you, it was more than enough. I don't need additional details."
Loke laughed along with you. "I was not referring to me, little mortal, but her."
You followed Loke's finger, brows drawing up in confusion when it led you to Alpine. She sat still, seemingly listening in on the conservation like she always did.
"Alpine?"
"You didn't know?"
"Know what?" You asked, looking back at him over your shoulder.
"She is a demon. A real one, a gift sent straight from Hel herself."
"Loke. That's a cat."
"In this realm, yes. In her own she has a beautiful form like yours."
You swallowed, looking over at Alp in a new light.
"She came from hell?"
"Not your version of it I assure you."
"Ahhhh..."
Loke chuckled. "She means you no harm. Obviously. She is here to help you."
"To help me?"
"Yes. She is your familiar."
"Familiar? Like from Sabrina?"
"I do not know what it is you speak of."
"It's a show about a teenage witch. Her cat, Salem, is a demon familiar."
"That is oddly accurate. Was this show designed by mages?"
You shrugged. "Beats me."
You were quiet for a beat, allowing Loke to continue pushing you gently.
"What does she do?"
"As of now it appears as though she strengthens your seidr with her own. A sort of healing property. Beyond that, I'm not sure what else she is capable of. Each demon possesses their own range of abilities."
