Penelope POV
"All clear here. I'm inbound." Peter's voice rang through the air pod in your right ear.
You hadn't activated the comms in your suits for risk of alerting Metal Head to your little late night rendezvous of the city. Luckily Webs had his air pods in his pocket and you each took one, hooking your phones up just like you used to pre-suite.
"Roger, roger." You answered as you toed around the gravely roof of the shitty apartment building he'd left you on.
"Aha!" You exclaimed when you found a good sized contender.
Walking back over to the edge of the roof, you threw the rock at the wall of the adjacent building as hard as you could, counting the ricochets back and forth between the two brick walls as it fell to the alleyway below.
"Thirteen!" You pumped your fists into the cool night air.
"Yeah, right." Came Peter's response.
"Don't be sour just because I beat your best."
"We both know that I could beat you any day, Sparks."
Rolling your eyes, you huffed. "You know the rule, no super strength."
He mumbled something in return but you missed it, your focus drawn to the squealing of tires below. You watched in horror as a black, unmarked van fled the street leaving behind a clearly injured cat.
"Shit." Speeding to the fire escape. You moved as fast as you dared down the rickety, rust covered contraption.
"Penn? What's wrong?" Peter yelled through the earbud just as your feet hit pavement.
"Fuck, Webs. You need to get here, quick." You told him as you approached the dark ball of fluff.
Kneeling down next to it, you were relieved to find it was breathing. You were less relieved to see the bright red blood dripping from its nose reflecting in the streetlight.
"Are you okay?!" Peter's voice had somehow gotten even louder, and you flinched from the assault on your eardrums.
"I'm fine. This asshole just hit a cat and drove off."
"Jeesh Sparks, I thought something was actually wrong."
"You better be fucking kidding me Peter Parker. Something is definitely wrong! Get your webby ass back here now. We're taking a trip to that twenty four hour vet place on second."
You didn't dare pick the cat up, afraid to injure it worse. It managed to lift its head slightly, looking at you with eyes that would put Puss in Boots to shame.
"It's alright pretty kitty, we'll get you some help. Just hold tight." Standing, you held your hands out in a stay put manner.
Yeah right. Like it's gonna just get up and walk away after that. Fucking asshole.
Walking back into the darkened alleyway, you trudged through the trash and debris laying around until you found the perfect cat sized piece of cardboard that was dry enough to hold some weight.
By the time you made it back to the cat with your cardboard in tow, Peter had landed and was kneeling down looking at the sorry creature.
"Penn, I'm not sure if it's gonna make it. That's a lot of blood." He spoke through the Spiderman mask.
Glaring at him, you crouched down to place the cardboard next to the cat. "Well, it's not dead yet so we're going to try and help."
"Alright. What do you need from me?"
