Penelope POV

It had been two days of treatment and it wasn't working. Which wasn't a surprise to you, considering you knew that the sole reason you were able to combat your powers was because of your soul bonds, something the girls didn't have and something you would never share with Ells. Though you'd hoped whatever compounds Whittier had given you could help them enough to get away from death's fucking doorstep and get the hell out of here, you knew for certain their only hope was getting back to the compound, back to the team. Loki and Bruce were the only ones that would truly be able to help them. You weren't the only one upset by the girls' lack of progress.

Ahri was pissed, more than what you were quickly realizing was her usual. "Some help you were. The great Penelope Rose, able to harness her power without dying. Our savior. What a load of bullshit."

"We're trying, Ahri. Give it some more time, maybe it just takes a while to activate-"

"Get out. Take your positively with you and get the fuck out. I'd like to die in peace without the sound of your annoying voice grading on my eardrums."

You sighed, leaving the dorm.

One thing you knew was that if a patient didn't want to get better, they wouldn't. You got the feeling Ahri didn't and that wasn't going to help her situation. But Willow still hadn't woken up. That told you that it wasn't just attitude, it really wasn't working. And you couldn't escape with one of them passed out and the other half dead.

Stomping your way to the lab, you cornered Ells.

"It's not working."

"We know that, Penelope. We're working on it."

"Well try harder."

"We have a theory." He began.

"I'm listening."

"We want to try a transfusion."

"The sickness isn't in their blood, Ells. What's a transfusion going to do?"

"We want to try a transfusion with your blood Penelope."

"My blood?"

"Yes. Your blood houses the compounds. If we give it to them, the hope is that their bodies accept it and begin making their own compounds."

"Worth a shot." You shrugged.

"Really? You'd do that?"

"What else am I here for? If you think it will work, then we do it."

An hour later you and Ahri were set up on beds in the corner of the lab, connected to the same machine that would transfuse your blood directly into her. She didn't speak the whole time, just shooting you a hate filled glare before she closed her eyes.

It took three hours. By the end of it you were feeling dizzy, and Ahri had actually perked up, color returning to her cheeks. Jerry and a few other people escorted you back to your room, where they placed you in your beds and gave you orange juice and steak and eggs. The thought of food made you nauseous and you picked at it slowly. Ahri all but scarfed hers down before laying back to take a nap. You slept through most of the day and night. The next morning it was time for round two with Willow.

It went much the same. The big difference was that the girl actually woke up about halfway through. The entire room seemed to sigh with relief as your heart rate picked up in slight panic. If you weren't sure before, now you were positive. Willow's glowing golden irises were undeniable in their uniqueness.

She was Thor's soulmate.

When you made it back to your room you were given the same meal as last time. Willow wouldn't eat.
