"Namjoon!"
Hearing the familiar voice made Namjoon stop in the hallway to his room and turn around, though a part of him wanted to just ignore the boy from the room across him and continue to walk. But he knew that his neighbor would catch up with him anyway and stop him, and Namjoon absolutely detested being touched.
He watched with an uninterested face as the pink-haired male walked up to him with a smile, his big round eyes shining. "What is it?"
"Oh," the boy began, blushing a little as he looked down, playing with the hem of his shirt. "I just heard you're leaving tonight..."
"That's correct," Namjoon said in a monotone voice. "So?"
"I'm happy for you." His neighbor smiled as he looked back up at him, and his grin was genuine. "Honestly, I hate this place. But I'm getting out soon as well so that's good for me!"
"I suppose it is..." Namjoon shrugged, still indifferent. "Congratulations... I guess?"
The pink-haired male giggled at his awkward tone, but nodded. "Thanks... Anyways, I wanted to ask you something, Joonie." His gaze was confident, and Namjoon immediately knew what was about to happen.
"I told you to not call me that," he said harshly, slowly starting to walk away. "And I don't want to talk to you right now."
"No! You've got to hear me out!" The boy grabbed his arm and quickly went in front of him to stop him, and he looked desperate for him to listen to him. "I... I really like you, Namjoon. I know you're upset over your fiance but, please give me a chance. Maybe I can make you forget-"
"I was afraid of this, and I regret that it had to happen," Namjoon took a deep breath, telling himself to not reject the other cruelly because he understood how painful rejection could be, and looked down straight into his eyes to make his point clear. "I have absolutely no wish to forget Seokjin, so I'm sorry. I really love him, and you don't stand a chance with me."
When he saw the look of hurt flash over the boy's face, his big eyes welling up in tears, he knew that he couldn't leave him just like that, so he added, "Listen, I really am sorry but that's the truth. I can never love you, since I already love Jin and only him. I hope you don't take it personally. Try to see the bright side of it. Maybe now that I'll be out of the picture, you'll finally meet the person who'll really love you. I'm sorry that I'd to hurt you."
"N-no, i-it's okay," the boy sniffled as he shook his head and wiped his tears with the back of his hand. "I r-really appreciate t-that y-you're trying to console m-me, u-unlike my o-old crush at u-uni."
Suddenly, Namjoon felt guilt in his heart seeing the crying male. The least he should do was try to understand why he'd ended up like this and comfort him.
"Is he- is he the reason you've been sent here?" He asked in worry, taking a step forward to take hold of the much shorter male's shoulders.
Namjoon thought that the boy was shorter than Jimin or Yoongi, and that was when he realized that it'd been weeks since he'd even thought about the two. Or Hoseok. Or his own brother Taehyung, or Jungkook, since they last visited him more than a month ago. How the time had passed by...
He shook those thoughts off and focused on his neighbor now, who wasn't crying anymore. Just sniffling and looking angry at himself.
The pink-haired male's pout made Namjoon think of Jin when he didn't get what he wanted, and he was glad that he'd rejected the short male and didn't agree on going out with him out of pity. He couldn't ever love him, or anyone to be honest. He knew he'd always end up comparing them with Jin, and nobody deserved to be stuck in a loveless relationship. Besides, he'd sworn to only ever love Jin, and that was what he did.
