Clementine x Male Reader: Enemy Within

Chapter 45

Today is the day Y/N was told Zelus's plan for a final siege on Harmony was to be executed.
Despite this, Y/N's decision to warn and prepare Harmony was set in motion. Now, it's just a matter of time.

Upon Y/N's return from Harmony earlier in the week, it was no surprise to him when Clementine showed him the results of her test. With the help of Joseph, Louis, and Violet pitching in to take over and making sure Sunset was well prepared, Y/N was able to take time off to rest and care for Clementine and the kids.

Currently, Y/N sits on his couch with Clementine, one arm wrapped around her while he has Ellie snuggled up on the other playing with makeshift toys. Their conversations make up for the lack of entertainment, as what once used to be a home of three people is now a home for five with the inclusion of AJ and Ashley, who are busy entertaining themselves with old board games on the dinner table.

As Y/N and Clem continue to make small talk, Clem takes note of Y/N's expressions. He looks distracted, like he can't stop thinking about something. Ever since his meeting with Zelus and the note given to him, old memories have begun to resurface, but as much as he tries to remember, they become harder to understand.
After a while of noticing, Clementine decides to break the ice.

Clem: "Something on your mind?" She asks in a low, curious tone while keeping eye contact.

Y/N stares at her for a moment before nodding his head.

Clem: "You mind talking about it?" She questions before giving him a few pecks on the cheek for reassurance.

Y/N ponders for a few seconds before attempting to speak, but ultimately says nothing. Clementine makes a compromise within herself and decides to ask a different question.

Clem: "You never told me what happened in there with him. Can you start with that?"

Y/N: "Like he said, we talked. It's no surprise he wants me dead, but he also offered me... "a way out"... through a note."

Clem: "What was it?"

Y/N: "It wasn't exactly clear or direct, but nothing ever is with that bastard."

Y/N notices the room turn awfully quiet, so he glances at the table where the kids sit in silence, almost like they were eavesdropping. He stares for a few seconds, watching them in their innocence before returning his gaze to Clem.

Y/N: "After I left the school, I was out there alone for a little over a year. I remember most of it. I remember... the things I had to do to survive, but there's a huge chunk that I don't..."

Clementine grips onto his hand in a comforting way, letting him know that he can continue.

Y/N: "... it's almost like, a whole piece of my memory was erased or forgotten. Until I read the note. Last thing I could piece together was... finding a... very clean, black armored SUV. I took a look inside and felt like I hit the jackpot. Food, water, weapons, everything I could've wanted, but after that... it becomes a blur. All I can remember is, laying down and having my vision covered by some white light; faintly seeing a three-circled figure and these... black armored soldiers..."

Clementine waits for a moment for him to finish before gently placing her hand on his chest and replying.

Clem: "What did the note say?"

He closes his eye and attempts to recollect his memory.

Y/N: "Something along the lines of, "join the new world order", with that same damn symbol."

As he finishes, Clementine sits up straight while giving him a concerned look. Before anything else could be said, they are interrupted by rapid knocking at the door. Clementine stands up from the couch and approaches the door. She creaks it open and Joseph stands on the other side.
