Clementine x Male Reader: Enemy Within

Chapter 14

You slowly open your eyes and see Clementine looking out of the tent. She has your head on her lap and is stroking your hair. She looks down and sees you awake. She then leans in for a kiss.

Clem: "You okay?"

Y/N: "I feel a bit better now."

She nods and looks out of the tent.

Y/N: "What's wrong?"

Clem: "Carlos went out because he said he saw someone."

Y/N: "You let him?"

Clem: "You think I was gonna stop him? He just told me and then left."

You groan and get up to leave the tent. You look around and see no sign of Carlos.

Y/N: "We get attacked by a werewolf and you decide to go out there?..." You say to yourself.

You feel Clem put her hand on your shoulder and you turn to see a concerned look on her face.

Clem: "Are you sure you're okay?"

Y/N: "Just a little shaken up... why?"

Clem: "You don't remember?"

Y/N: "What do you mean?"

Clem: "After we got here. You just stood still for a long time staring at nothing. You've never done that before."

You stare at her with a confused expression.

Y/N: "Are you joking with me?"

Clem tilts her head while returning the same expression to you.

Carlos: "Y/N!"

You look at the entrance and see Carlos escorting an older looking man. Carlos throws him down on his knees and holds a gun to his head.

Y/N: "Who's this?"

Carlos: "While you were asleep, this bastard was snooping around here. He ran after I saw him."

You look down at the man as he holds his hands up looking terrified.

Y/N: "So you point a gun to his head?"

Carlos: "We don't know who this is, Y/N. Stop being so soft."

You push Carlos's gun down while looking him in the eyes.

Y/N: "Nobody's being soft."

You stand in front of the man and signal him to get up. He has dirty clothes and dirty hair. You can almost smell him from a mile away.

Y/N: "What's your name?"

Stranger: "E-Ethan..."

Y/N: "What are you doing here, Ethan?"

Ethan: "I-I heard gunshots here last night, thought someone was in trouble."

Y/N: "That's it?"

He nods his head fast. You look at Clementine and Carlos but they seem skeptical.

Carlos: "I don't believe you..."

You see Carlos grab the man's backpack and try to open it. The man pulls out a knife and points it at Carlos. All of you immediately point your guns at him.

Y/N: "Drop it."

Ethan: "L-Leave it alone!" He says to Carlos.

Carlos: "Why? What are you hiding in there?"

Ethan: "None of your business!"

Y/N: "Drop the knife, Ethan."

You see his hands start shaking. He finally stops pointing the knife and puts it away. You lower your guns and they follow suit.

Y/N: "What's in the bag?"

Ethan: "Personal items..."

You see Carlos glaring at him.

Ethan: "I-I don't want to hurt anyone, I was just looking for a place to stay, okay?"

You look at Clementine who looks sorry for him but still skeptical.

Y/N: "Is that your only weapon?"

Ethan: "Yes."

You holster your pistols and think for a second.

Y/N: "If you're looking for a place to stay, come with us."

Carlos: "Y/N."

Y/N: "I'm the leader of the settlement, Sunset. If you want, you can come with us." You say ignoring Carlos.

You see the man's face turn into a surprised one but keeps his composure.

Ethan: "S-Sure."

Y/N: "Good."

You look at Clem and Carlos.

Y/N: "Let's go."

You've been walking for a while in silence. Carlos is in front of you all with Clementine a few feet away behind him. You walk behind Clementine with Ethan next to you. You keep your hand on your pistol in case someone decides to cause trouble.

Y/N: "You've been all by yourself?"

Ethan: "Yeah, I got kicked out of my old community."

Y/N: "Why's that?"

Ethan: "They said I was strange, and they were assholes."

Y/N: "Are you?"

Ethan: "That's not up to me to decide."

You keep your eyes forward for a second before you look at Ethan.

Y/N: "You got any friends? Family?"

You see him look up in shock but then he quickly looks back down.

Ethan: "Uh... no."

Y/N: "Really? No family?"

Ethan: "I... uh... lost my family a long time ago."

Y/N: "Hmm, I'm sorry about that."

He nods and stays silent.

Y/N: "What was your family like, if you don't mind me asking?"

You see him gulp before he responds.

Ethan: "I... uh... had a wife and two daughters."

Y/N: "That's nice. I actually have a daughter."

Ethan: "You do?"

Y/N: "Yeah, she's only two though. Her name is Ellie. What were both of your daughters' names?"

You see him look around nervously.

Y/N: "Something wrong?"

Ethan: "N-No, nothings wrong."

Y/N: "So?"

Ethan: "They were... um... Leila and... Leslie."

You stop in your tracks for a second and stare at Ethan. He stops and looks at you nervously. You see Clementine turn her head to look at you. You signal her to keep walking and you do so as well.

Y/N: "Leila and Leslie, huh?" You say trying to keep your composure.

Ethan: "Y-Yeah."

Y/N: "Hmm, so how was your basement?"

He stops and looks at you with a confused and nervous look on his face.

Ethan: "H-How do you know I had a basement?"

You stare at him in the eyes as your blood starts to boil. Carlos and Clementine stop and look at you both.

Carlos: "What the hell are you doing?"

You look at them both as you feel your hand start to shake.

Clem: "Y/N? What's wrong?"

You can't hold it in anymore. You whip out your pistol and hit Ethan with the butt of the gun, knocking him out.
