Chapter 42

Y/N POV

You finish off the last two remaining M1's with knives to the head. You stand up and put your knife away before adjusting your holsters.

Y/N: "You all good, gentlemen?"

You get a bunch of nods and answers. You carefully step over the bodies on the ground while fixing your gloves.

Y/N: "Take whatever's useful. Stay alert, he might send more people."

You reach your truck and lean on the side of the hood while scanning the area around you. You let out a foggy sigh as you scratch your beard. One of the new recruits, a young guy, comes up to you while holding a radio.

Boy: "It's for you, boss."

Y/N: "Thank you."

You take the radio as you pat his shoulder and press down on the side to speak.

Y/N: "Yeah?" You ask, beginning to pace around the truck.

Zelus: "Hello, Y/N."

You stop in your tracks as you hear his deep, stern voice.

Y/N: "What the hell do you want?"

Zelus: "Well, for starters, you dead, but that's not the issue right now."

You look at your men and signal them to quiet down.

Zelus: "I heard that you took out one of my outposts, with the help of your new recruit."

You look at the boy and make eye contact with him. He looks away and begins pacing around. You begin to look around to make sure you're not being watched.

Y/N: "Yeah, I did. You got a problem with it? Come down here and do something about it."

Zelus: "I think I'm okay here, Y/N. Right next to Lesly."

Your heart drops when you hear her name. You turn to one of your men and point at him.

Y/N: "Get in contact with Harmony."

He nods and runs off to do what he's told. You lean over the hood of the car and speak again.

Y/N: "What are you talking about?"

Zelus: "Look in the glove compartment."

You're confused, but get off the car and search inside the truck. You open the glove compartment and find a polaroid photo taped on the hatch. You peel it off and see directions to a location on the back. You flip the photo over and see a photo of Lesly tied up in a chair.

Zelus: "I'm guessing you found it?" He says, chuckling slightly at the end.

Y/N: "You son of a bitch!"

Zelus: "Follow those directions, Y/N. I want to have a little talk with you. I'll even give you some insight on Lesly."

The man from earlier runs towards you in a hurry.

Man: "Meghan said that Lesly's missing, boss."

You look behind the man and see the boy walking towards the group of men while hugging himself.

Zelus: "Oh, and, Y/N? You might want to back up, don't want to lose a limb or something."

You see the men notice what the boy is holding and start to panic. You quickly ditch the radio and push the man beside you away.

Y/N: "Get back!"

An explosion goes off which blows the boy into bits and sends you all flying back. You lay on your back as your ears begin to ring. You can hear the screams and shouts of pain and shock from your men. You start coughing as you see smoke fly into the air from one of the blown up trucks. The man you saved runs towards you and kneels down to check on you.
