Chapter 16

Two Days Later
Reyes POV

You stand on the watchtower, scanning the area closely. You hear the sounds of engines getting louder and closer. You see three trucks driving towards you and stop once they reach the gates.

They get out of their trucks and you realize it's The Maulers. You see the leader, Jason, walk up to the gate and look up at you.

Jason: "Where's your General?"

Reyes: "He's dead."

You see him turn back to his men and mumble something.

Zelus: "There's been a change of plans, gentlemen!"

You look to your right and see Zelus next to you but without his cloak on. He's now wearing all black with a black kevlar vest over his long sleeve.

Zelus POV

You see Jason look up at you and say.

Jason: "Son of a bitch!"

Jason and his men immediately point their weapons at you. The guards train their weapons on them as well.

Zelus: "Let's be civil about this, gentlemen."

Jason: "I'm gonna kill you."

Zelus: "I wouldn't do that if I was you."

Jason: "Why's that, huh?"

Zelus: "Well for starters, you'll be gunned down before you even finish that clip. Secondly, I'm not the person you're looking for..."

Jason: "Do you think I'm stupid?"

Zelus: "Let's find out..."

You climb down the watchtower and open the gates. You both walk up to each other and stare each other down.

Jason: "You killed my brother. I'm gonna kill you."

Zelus: "Y/N. Y/N killed your brother. I'm not Y/N, well... not entirely."

Jason: "What the hell are you talking about?"

Zelus: "Put your guns down and I'll tell you."

Jason: "You first."

You turn your head back and signal the men to lower their weapons. They do so and Jason's men do the same.

Jason: "Who are you?"

Zelus: "I'm Batman."

It goes silent but then you start to laugh. You hear the men start laughing as well. You pat Jason on the arm.

Zelus: "I'm just pulling your leg. My name is Zelus. Let's go inside, talk this out like men."

You start walking away and they follow you.

You walk behind the desk and sit in the general's old chair. You prop your legs up on the desk and signal Jason to sit.

Jason: "What happened to the General?"

Zelus: "General Bennet was weak. And for that, he died."

Jason: "What did you do?"

Zelus: "I did what I had to. He killed his scouting group in cold blood so I had to kill him. For the sake of his men."

Jason: "And so you took over?"

Zelus: "Isn't that what happened with you and your brother?"

He pulls out his pistol and slams it on the desk. You stare at it and then drop your feet.

Zelus: "Yes, that's what I did. But I had a purpose for doing it."

Jason: "And that is...?"

You lean in closer.

Zelus: "I want to kill Y/N."

Jason scoffs and leans back in his chair.

Jason: "I don't understand..."

Zelus: "It's pretty clear, no? These men hate Y/N, you hate Y/N, I hate Y/N. What's not to understand?"

Jason: "Not that. You look identical to him. How the hell is that possible?"

Zelus: "The world is a mysterious place, Jason. There are so many things that this earth holds that are still incomprehensible to the human mind. But now is not the time for that. Let's get into business."

Jason: "What do you want?"

Zelus: "As I told the General, I want to form an alliance. There are a good amount of people who meet my needs and that have a deep hatred for Y/N. You, me, and others I still have yet to recruit."

Jason: "All of this, to kill him?"

Zelus: "Of course, don't tell me you don't want to...? I mean, he's destroyed your brother in the past, stained the name of "The Maulers". I'd be aching to get my hands on him if I were you."

Jason: "You have no idea..."

Zelus: "And to add more to the fire, he's destroyed a lot of your outposts. Turned you from "The Maulers" into "The Savage Scrotums."

He stands up with his pistol in his hand and stares you down. You stand up as well.

Zelus: "He ruined you. The Maulers used to dominate everyone, and made everyone fear them. Now, you're just a drop of blood on the blood stained wall he created. I... We can end that. We can end him."

You stick your hand out to him.

Zelus: "You don't have to join me, I'm not forcing you. Know this, Jason. If you don't join, we go our separate ways, but if you get in my way, I'll finish off what's left of The Maulers."

You motion your hand for him to accept.

Zelus: "What's it gonna be, Jason? Revenge, or extinction?"

He looks at your hand for a couple of seconds before he shakes it.

Jason: "I accept."

Zelus: "Fantastic."

You sit back down on the chair and put your feet on the desk.

Jason: "Who are those other people you plan on recruiting?"

Zelus: "It's a surprise, Jason. Don't worry, they'll be here soon. In fact, it's only two people."

Jason: "Two people?"

Zelus: "It doesn't sound like much, but trust me. Once I get these two on our side, we'll be able to destroy him."

Jason: "You're so sure." He says as he sits back down.

Zelus: "I am. I'll promise this, Jason. I will not stop until Y/N L/N is dead."
