A/N
I wrote this late at night & I just wanted to practice some descriptive writing techniques. There's like no plot whatsoever. It's just the aftermath of one of their fights at camp (set in an alternate universe)

The sun began its descent, casting a warm, golden glow over the sprawling landscape of Camp Wawanakwa. The air was thick with the sounds of laughter, splashing water, and the occasional shriek of excitement. Amidst the chaos and drama that seemed to constantly surround them, Courtney and Duncan found themselves standing at the edge of the campsite, seeking solace in the tranquility of the forest that bordered the camp.

Courtney's arms were tightly crossed over her chest, her expression a mix of anger, hurt, and confusion. Her normally sleek, brown hair was slightly disheveled, a few loose strands framing her face. Her eyes, usually sharp and determined, now glinted with a certain vulnerability as she looked at Duncan. He leaned casually against a towering pine tree, his usual cocky smirk replaced by a more serious expression. His hair was tousled, falling slightly into his intense teal eyes.

Courtney took a deep breath, her voice filled with frustration. "Duncan, we need to talk. We can't keep avoiding this."

Duncan let out a sigh, his hand absent-mindedly running through his unruly hair. His eyes, usually filled with mischief, were fixed on the ground. "Yeah, I know. Look, Princess, I'm sorry about what happened. I never meant to hurt you."

Courtney's eyes softened momentarily, a glimmer of hope shining through her anger. She unfolded her arms, her body language less defensive. "You have a funny way of showing it, Duncan. Breaking my trust like that... it's not something you can just apologize for and expect everything to be okay."

Duncan's gaze remained fixed on the ground, his voice tinged with regret. "I get it, Courtney. I messed up big time. But I want you to know that I care about you. More than I've cared about anyone."

Courtney's anger began to waver, replaced by a hint of vulnerability. She took a step closer, her voice softer. "Then why did you do it? Why did you let me down?"

Duncan looked up, his piercing teal eyes meeting Courtney's. He took a step toward her, his voice sincere and filled with determination. "I don't have all the answers, Court. Sometimes I do things without thinking, without considering the consequences. But I want to make it right. I want to prove to you that I can be better."

Courtney bit her lip, her gaze softening as she studied Duncan's face. Emotions flickered across her features - hurt, confusion, and a glimmer of longing. She let out a shaky breath, her voice trembling but firm. "I want to believe you, Duncan. But I can't keep going through this rollercoaster of emotions. I need stability, honesty, and trust."

Duncan took another step closer, his voice filled with sincerity. "I promise, Courtney, I'll work on all of that. I'll prove to you that I can be the person you deserve. Just give me another chance."

Courtney's eyes welled up with tears, her voice barely a whisper. "Okay, Duncan. One more chance. But know that I won't tolerate any more lies or betrayal."

Duncan nodded, a mix of relief and determination in his eyes. "I won't let you down, Courtney. I'll do whatever it takes to make things right between us."

They stood in silence for a moment, the weight of their conversation hanging in the air. Slowly, Courtney reached out and took Duncan's hand, feeling a mix of uncertainty and hope. Duncan's hand closed around hers, his grip firm yet gentle, as if promising to hold on tight.

As they stood there, hand in hand, a gentle breeze rustled through the leaves of the surrounding trees. The fading sunlight filtered through the branches, casting a dappled pattern on the forest floor. It felt as though nature itself was acknowledging their moment, urging them to embrace the possibilities that lay ahead despite the uncertainty.

Courtney turned to look at Duncan, her eyes shining with a newfound determination. "We have a lot of work ahead of us, Duncan. Rebuilding trust is not an easy task, but if we're willing to put in the effort, I believe we can overcome this."

Duncan nodded, his gaze unwavering. "You're right, Courtney. I'm willing to do whatever it takes. I want to be the person you can rely on, the person that you deserve."

A small smile tugged at the corners of Courtney's lips, a glimmer of hope returning to her eyes. "I appreciate your honesty, Duncan. Let's start by taking things slow, rebuilding our friendship first. And as we regain trust, we can pave the way for something deeper."

Duncan squeezed Courtney's hand, a mixture of gratitude and understanding in his teal eyes.

With a renewed sense of purpose, they turned to walk back to camp, their hands still intertwined. The forest, a silent witness to their conversation, seemed to radiate a sense of hope and renewal. The evening had grown darker, the campsite buzzing with activity. But amidst the chaos, Courtney and Duncan felt a newfound sense of peace within themselves.

As they approached the campfire, they noticed their friends gathered around, chatting and laughing. Bridgette waved them over, a warm smile on her face. "Hey, you two! Where have you been?"

Courtney exchanged a knowing glance with Duncan, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Just taking a walk, Bridgette. It felt good to clear our heads."

Duncan nodded, giving Courtney's hand another firm squeeze.

With a silent understanding of the conflict between Courtney and Duncan, their friends exchanged knowing glances before warmly inviting them to join the group around the crackling fire and indulge in some delicious s'mores.
