"Do you think my parents would let me?"

"Christ, Hannah, you're twenty two! Since when do you need their permission?" 

"I can't just leave and let my mum work by herself!"

"But you can't let your favourite band leave the country without you seeing them first!"

I wrapped the phone chord around my finger. "My family is going to the beach that day. They want me to go."

"Do you want to go?"

I loved the beach. "Not really..."

"Then go to the concert! Tell them you've made other plans! You're not helpless!"

No, I wasn't.
