I was on a mission today.
After eating a small plate of watermelon I managed enough energy to take a walk. I grabbed my purse on the way out and kept it out of sight from Mum lest she ask any questions.
I didn't feel like answering any.
The city is very large and I am so very small.
But I was on a mission.
Ignoring the nerves making me flush, I walked to a small building on the corner. Nothing flashy, just a joint slightly larger than an average pub. A young blonde woman was working the booth and chewing gum at the same time. She gave a little grin as she saw me approach.
"Hey there, lookin' to see the show? I hear they're sellouts."
Whether she meant good or bad I'll never know. I only nodded. My palms were sweaty. If they didn't have any...
"I'll get ya' a ticket, just hold on..." I didn't wait to get my money out and immediately handed it over. "Ah, there you are, love, enjoy yourself."
"Thank you," I smiled.
Mission accomplished.
